There were several teams that I was unsure of coming into conference play....K-State, Tech, and Baylor. I felt like all three had an inflated non-conference record and I wanted to see what they really had once conference play began. I don't like one or two game samples, but having seen all of them play several times in OOC and now seeing them play a conference game, I thought I could share what they appear to be as of now.
So far, Tech looks like they are a nice team and with some luck, could fight for a 5th place finish in the conference. But I still see them in the 7-11 or 8-10 range. They will challenge most teams in Lubbock, but we will have to prove it on the road.
K-State is so much better than I thought they would be, but they just don't have the talent skill after losing so much in the offseason. But I do expect them to upset a team or two in Manhattan. They are probably 5-13/6-12 range as of now.
Baylor is a team that, IMO, could fall to the lower half of the conference (8-10/9-9)....not because they are getting run today in Lawrence, but because they were beaten soundly by the two best teams that they played coming into today. They have talent, but I just have been very underwhelmed with them after seeing them play 4-5 times this year. And let's not forget who their coach is either.
