hello friends.....I am back

I do not know the answers

This was all you really had to say dude. If I won't even take the time to read Shakespeare I'm definitely not taking the time to read all that, which is basically just everything that has been said for the past year in one post. Minus the crazy troll comments.

He committed to Capel his freshman year.

See, this is how confused I was: We've been hearing about the guy for so long that I thought he was a junior or senior at OU this season (which would have had Sampson coaching OU during his freshman year in high school). I was stunned to learn just now that he's only a sophomore.

So I got it wrong it just about every way possible.

At least I'm thorough.

Calaway, I'm terribly sorry I played a role in spoiling this thread for you. I don't often get my facts wrong, but if I did this time, I deeply regret it. I will endeavor never, ever to let you down again, and even as I type this, I'm making out a check to your favorite charity in hopes that you'll see your way clear to giving me another chance.

Just make it out to me - I'll see that it's delivered to the "Calaway Memorial Tailgating Ice Chest Fund", which happens to be my favorite charity.

It wasn't you and the Hardrick thing, I just thought it was kind of low class that this guy comes back after a long time gone and wants to contribute, and most of the posts on his thread are nitpicking him for elaborating on his views (yuuurrr posts urrrr tooo lawng!) or for forgetting who recruited KH. That kind of stuff makes people not want to contribute.

Plus I just love spelling phonetically. I am easily amused.

Sorry if I posted misinformation, but I thought Hardrick was a commit much earlier (if an unsigned one).

This is EXACTLY what happened. Hardrick committed when he was in Lawton to KS (as a freshman).

JC, however, DID honor the commitment.

EDIT: I stand corrected. It WAS JC...WOW...

Nice to know I wasn't the only confused one.

I thought Hardrick committed to Capel right after he was named HC at OU.

The official dates are...Cade Davis 5/1/2006, Blake Griffin 5/13/2006 and Kyle Hardrick 5/20/2006. Capel's hiring date was 4/11/2006. I still think Hardrick was Jeff's first actual recruit. Blake was coming anyways as was Cade. Hardrick was quoted as saying he chose OU because of Blake and Capel.

I'm not sure KS had offered Cade at that point, so who knows. Blake in on record as saying he was far from coming to OU at that point, but MIGHT have.

Incorrect.

Blake said he was ready to commit to OU during KS last season at OU. However, Taylor told Blake to hold off because Taylor wasn't sure he was going to be back at OU the next season.

Never did Blake ever intimate that he was "far from coming to OU".

I think Booger is right. I just read an article ($) from the day Blake committed and Blake said "I realized I wanted to play with my brother" and "my brother said he likes playing for Coach Capel and Coach Kline"...To me that sounds like...Taylor had an inkling to leave but decided to stay thus Blake decided on OU. So maybe Capel's first recruit was keeping Taylor because how much can you really enjoy playing for a coach after one month?

I'm pretty sure "MAYBE" is a HUGE understatement. You pretty much hit the nail on the head...:clap

This from an Oklahoman article in 2009:

Shortly after replacing the former Oklahoma coach Kelvin Sampson and before Blake’s commitment, Capel had a conversation with Taylor while watching Blake play at an A.A.U. basketball tournament in Dallas.

“You know that Blake almost committed here last year?” Taylor asked, according to Capel.

“Really?” Capel said.

“Yeah, but I kind of talked him out of it,” Taylor said. “I wasn’t sure if I was going to come back.”

Taylor said he did not know if he would still be playing for the Sooners if Sampson had stayed. Even when Sampson left for Indiana after his freshman season, Taylor was unsure of his future.

“I was going to stick around at least for that next year and see how things went and everything,” Taylor said of his sophomore season

Taylor was coming back for his soph year, but wasn't sure he would be there for his Jr. year, which is BG's frosh year.

I would bet any amount of money that Taylor's opinion would have changed with Damion James and Scotty Reynolds and the improvement of the 2006/07 team.

So, nothing about Blake ever saying "I was far from going to OU" when Sampson was the coach.

sky and klegg were right. Regardless when Hardrick signed, he was KS's recruit. He VERBALLY committed to OU before JC was hired.
