Houston Cougars..... just sayin'

Guy who missed the free throws on the court 45 minutes after the game. As I get older, I feel more pain for the losers (unless they're from Texas or OSU).

Know what I get out of that? That he cares THAT much. That winning (and losing) matters. Love that. Miss it. I'm not saying OU players don't care about winning/losing, but it feels like that fire has been missing since Kelvin left. I think for OU bball to be successful long term, there has to be a certain level of blue collar, we're going to out work you, to the program. I feel like that is missing.

Definitely agree there.

The team that went to the final four was probably the hardest working group in OU history. Buddy basically willed himself into a top 10 draft pick by outworking every other player in the nation. Cousins was another ridiculous gym rat, and I'm sure the rest of the guys on the team were the same.

Disagree. But this isn't the place or time.

I was really pulling for Houston. Kelvin is a great coach, and I wish our defense was even close to as good as Houston’s. That said, I can never figure out why a coach does not put a face in front of the inbounds passer. It seems to never end well for the team on defense.

I thought the same thing as I watched it. If that were us, I'd put McNeace or Lattin on the ball every time. Especially since they missed the FT, and thus he can't run the baseline.

I chose not to call him out on that, though, because you can't defend it much better than they did. That dude just made the shot of his life.

Kelvin does a great job of instilling toughness in his players and figuring out how to win games. His offense is brutal to watch but it is about winning. I personally was ready for him to leave when he decided to on his own merit.
He did cheat with illegal phone calls and texts which are for the most part now legal. He was a repeat offender and was a show cause hire for several years. Of course most guys were doing it but that doesn't make it right. Also he was busted because he was to cheap to buy a burner phone and used the university phone.

He was a different person than the public was shown.

Any question about his offense should be the horrible shot they got after a timeout in their conference title game.

He has done a great job at Houston.
