I'm tired of reading by some how we won't compare to the top of the Big 12 because we don't have talent or whatever. Last year we had a bunch of cancers on our team and we cut out that cancer and will be better off for it.

The Big 12 should be a little down this year. Baylor, Texas, Kansas will all be really good but they all also lose some key players. I think we can steal some games from all these teams in Norman. I think we'll be a lot tougher to beat at home than people think and I also trust that Sampson can turn things around.

I know over the years people see me as a negative nancy or whatever. During last year I probably ripped the teams performance as much as anyone on this board but they deserved it last year. Cutting away that cancer will help this team become a unit. That's something we really missed last year. You can give Capel some of the blame for this but at no time last year were we a unit. I don't see that happening again.

And I think the guys we have right now will stay around the program as long as they are supposed to. We won't see a replay of some recent years where everyone defects. I'm never about having positive feelings or negative feelings about things but last year was one of the freakish years where we brought in guys that just weren't meant to play together. I don't think we'll ever see another year like it again. If we have guys that just want to play together we'll win 20 games.

Nick, sometimes i wonder if you post after a couple of shrooms...

I hope you are right...but even though you may be tired of hearing the negative nancy's, they have as much ground to stand on as the faithful sooners we have here as well...

I like to think i am somewhere in the middle, i could see this ship going either direction at this point...

if we make the NIT, we've had a very good year.

teams that will be better than OU:

UT, KU, KSU, Baylor, OSU, ATM, Colorado....in fact we may lose at home to CU for the first time since 1981 i think. the two best players on the floor will be alex burks and cory higgins. unless the big XII is getting 8 teams in the Dance, i don't see it.

The bottom line is that no one on this board knows how good we'll be/won't be, and if they say they do they are fooling themselves.

You guys know I meant Capel I even said Capel laster on. I don't always look at everything I type. Sorry about that mistype.

I can see KU, Baylor, Texas, and KSU being better. Even if those 4 teams are better 5th in the Big 12 is good enough to make the NCAA Tournament this year. But those 4 teams aren't as strong as the Big 12 has been in the past. We can be as good as anyone in the Big 12 though. I think the Big 12 gets around 6 teams in this year.

I can see that, however I think a lot of last year was just the wrong guys together. If you go just by talent last years team is easily in the NCAA Tournament. I think just having guys that play hard and together that's easily 7 more wins than last year and that's probably good enough fpr the NCAA Tournament.

I believe the NIT would be a really nice step in the right direction.

Anything other than that would be a miracle, imo, just because of the meshing of so many new guys.

What makes OSU better? What makes TAM better? and Colorado, two players dont win games!

Where did I say I know how good we'll be, I said I think we'll be a lot better just based on cutting out the cancer.

Nick my comment wasn't really made with you in mind. I'll leave it at that.

I don't know what to expect from this year's team, but I'm inclined to feel positive about our prospects until proven wrong. I won't be surprised if we eke our way into the tourney.

I just have a very good feeling that we will see a true team on the court this year. We won't eke our way into the tourney. We will make the dance because of better effort and very good play from our team. Can't wait for the season to start. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

Last year we thought we would be the third best team in the conference. It didn't work out that way. That was a lesson that things aren't always as they seem they will be.

How could you forget Mizzou? They are a top 2 or 3 team in the Big 12 this year.

Nick, a couple of things:

1) I hope you're right. I'll reserve judgment until I actually see these guys play and see them play together.

2) Knowing your history, I really hope you don't get over-confident too soon, then turn into a raving, coach hating lunatic the minute we lose a couple in a row. Please don't come into this season with inflated expectations. We're rebuilding. Jeff's done a good job, but it's still a rebuilding job.
