I agree with coolm on this one. This story and the actions the off duty police officer/club bouncer took did not lead me to believe that he was the victim.
The account in this morning's Oklahoman goes into more detail. Read it and I think you'll see that the entire incident could have been avoided if the officer, who was basically a club employee at the time, had used more diplomacy instead of trying to demonstrate his authority. Peterson wanted to get a drink of water first. The officer refused, said he was pushed and tried to put his handcuffs on AD. What's next, his freaking gun?

I'm sure there is more to this story than we know. But the account I read does not pass the smell test. I'm surprised the off duty cop didn't make sure his name was in bold print in this article. Or, maybe he knew he was in the wrong and didn't want everyone to know he handled the situation poorly.
And, as coolm said, it doesn't make sense that a young man with an impeccable reputation would be involved in an incident like this without provocation. I find it hard to belive that AD was the instigator. I have a high regard for police officers. But I believe we all know that there are a few "cowboys" out there who try to prove how tough they are, and in doing so give the rest a bad name.
