did not take the time in the offseason to prepare for the suckage like I did. People, we aren't any good. We were never going to be very good this year. Look at the roster. Look at the all the new guys. The lack of vets. The turmoil of the offseason.

How could anyone expect any differently? I mean seriously. Our only center on the roster left us for London.

Some of you are going to flat out kill yourselves if you keep at this rate all year with the bashing threads and the displeasure voicing on this board. Pace yourselves people. Its going to be a loooooong season. I'm concerned for your well-being.

Next year. We are playing for next year. Whether it be Capel, Tubbs, Sampson or whoever else (please God no Mark Fox). We are playing for next year.

Just watch the kids grow up and try to celebrate the little things.

Ex. Man, did you see that finish by Calvin Newell? That was neat! (end of example)

Ex. 2 Wow, the guys sure played with a lot of effort in the loss to Kentucky (end of example 2)

I expected it and I tried to prepare for it. Unfortunately, I simply cannot support Capel because I don't know what he is trying to do. Therefore, I have zero faith in the man.

Keep trying because you are not doing a very good job of it today. Tough day at the office or something?

Anyone who thought we would be a contender in the big 12 was just being ignorant. I went into this season expecting 10 wins so obviously the bar wasn't set too high. We are so YOUNG but that's part of it when so many guys leave each year. I see many postitive things each game even though we lose. By the time our freshman are seniors, I am very optimistic that we will be fielding a good team. I don't care who the coach is as long as we can keep players around. Obviously, a lot of posters are upset about the damage the last couple seasons has done to OU's bball image but honestly, how often has OU been mentioned among the big boys as the ideal place to go for bball? All I know is I will be at every home game weeknight or weekend no matter what the product is cause OU is what I pour my heart and soul in.

I had very low expectations coming into this season. It's looking like this team is going to fall woefully shy of the expectations I DID have, which is quite an accomplishment. I still believe Capel gets another year, but we are 8-20 in our last 28 games. Just think about that people. That is unbelievably sad and pathetic. As for next season, while I definitely think we'll be better I don't see how we're going to go from a team that quite possibly will win less than 10 games this year to 20+ wins and a tourney appearance next year. We have some good players coming in but it's not like we have Carmelo and D Rose stepping in next year.

My bottom line is if the young players on this team do not show steady and significant improvement as this year goes along then Capel should be fired at the end of the season. We need to see something this year that indicates this team is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY better next year or he needs to go.

I think most (outside of Zepp, who thought the team would win 20+ games, and of course faithful) kinda knew they were going to suck. I don't think anyone (not even me) thought they would suck THIS bad. I thought they would finish last place in the conference, but I didnt think they would struggle and lose to D-II teams and what not.

So, the other problem with this thread is that it assumes that because negative posting is going on that people didnt expect it. If we expect our team to be awesome, and they are in fact awesome, the posting and manner of the board will reflect that. When the team sucks and the program is in trouble, the posting will reflect. This board is a direct reflection of the program.

It doesn't have to be. I understand that people gotta vent but let's show that we still support the players and the program on here. The constant bashing gets old. I'm still sick of it from last year.

You are a creative thread starter that is good at propping up and plushing up things. Throw us fans that want some sunshine a bone every once in awhile. We have JUCOs. We have little, underdog, out-manned, out gunned guys. C'mon abd, this is your style. Tech us up a little here. Buff us up a little here. Anything. I don't want to constantly hate coming to this board everyday.

Its the holidays. Tis the season and all that jazz. Let's quit bashing the program 24/7. Especially the folks that post here every day.

We've got enough jerrys to to make this Orangepower.com right now.

And I am in no way happy with where this program is and what is happening right now. Just so that's clear. If things don't get better real quick then things need to change.

This is too good of a program based on its history and resources.

BigTime, did you ever get your wig back? If so, that's definitely a positive. :)

I thought that, if the transfers were good players , we would be decent, but, if they were stiffs, we would be bad. We're bad. However, next year looks (on paper)to be much better.

Lol, I see what you are saying... I guess that I just don't understand why talking about whats wrong with the program (when something is actually wrong with it) makes people not like this board and why they wouldnt want to talk about what is actually happening instead of just trying to dig up some positives out of the heap of disaster.

But, for you, I will be keeping my eyes open for some positives and I will deliver some cheery threads before Christmas. :)

How could anyone have any expectations with only 3 players returning, two just starting their 2nd year too!

You can brace yourself for sucktitude. It happens. I strolled into Memorial Stadium several times under Blake knowing full well we were about to get our asses handed to us.

But a Sooner BBall fan should never, EVER, see his team lose a game to Chaminade.

:clap

I did not expect us to be very good this season. I thought it was a perfect opportunity for Capel to show how good a coach he is by having this team progress through out the year -- I'm still hoping for that. I just am having a hard time believing in Capel with lack of success of Duke assistants.

Chaminade is just a name, those players were better plan & simple!

To me you can't coach someone to jump higher or be quicker on D! We have 1 player that can keep up athleticly in big 12 play, and he is a out of control freshmen.
