If a 4 game win streak can save a job, can a streak the other way lose it?

They beat Tech (who is awful), ISU (last place and in OT), CU, and Baylor... After that, everyone was praising Capel and saying that he earned himself another season. The team still had a horrendous record, and most people were wondering if the team might go 1-15 or 0-16. But, they did go on a little streak and that seemed to stop the bleeding and now most have tipped in favor of him getting another season.

Now the team has lost 4 games in a row. That OSU loss looks bad now because they suck pretty bad, Texas and @ Mizzou were tough games that nobody really thought OU would win (and they lost both by an average of about 20 each), and then they lose to Nebraska which was their first conference road win in a few years.

OU is going to get run out of the gym in the next 3 games... @KSU, @A&M, and KU. That will be a 7 game losing streak.

When OU rolls into Lubbock they might be on a 7 game losing streak with a 12-16 overall record. Talk about a MUST WIN at Texas Tech.

So, if a 4 game winning streak can save a job, can a 7 game losing streak lose it?

Why do you get your jollies off to these situations? We're hurting. Quit making it worse, thebigabd.

To answer your question. No. Not unless the team quits, someone gets arrested, Capel makes a racial slur, etc...

dont count your chickens before their hatched..

Losing on the road at top 20 teams seems like a pretty safe bet for this bunch.

What's making it worse? Its a legit question.

Maybe if we lose every game the rest of the year it'll be looked at. But I doubt it.

ya and i bet you chalked up a blow out for NEb at KU.. o wait you prolly did with your super wicked smart basketball mind powers..

It was David Tairue (sp) that was pegged a star.

Its a dumb question imo. Capel will be back. Whether we like it or not he will be back next year barring something besides losing basketball games happening.

You know how some teachers drop your worst and best scores and average the rest for your grade? On this board, i throw out the overly pessimistic and overly optimistic posts and pay attention to the rest. You get a better consensus that way.

Ok. State has only lost one game at home thus far, and that was to Texas... Who is probably going to be ranked the #1 team in the country when the newest polls are released. I don't consider losing at Ok. State a "bad" loss right now.

and then they lose to Nebraska which was their first conference road win in a few years.

Didn't you start a thread earlier today calling Nebraska a salty squad and saying that they have given good teams very close games on the road?

So, if a 4 game winning streak can save a job, can a 7 game losing streak lose it?

I'm not Joe C., and its tough to presage, but I strongly doubt it. Losing 7 games in a row was more expected than winning 4 games in a row.

I don't think they'll lose 7 in a row though, and I expected them to lose tonight. My prediction remains firm: I think of their remaining games they'll beat Ok. State and Tech.

Its a smart way to go. Someday I hope to stop reading threads that hack me off, but I'm a sucker and I always click...

You're like me. You think, this can't be any worse than..... and sure enough it is. :facepalm

Here's what it's down to. Capel is on the hotseat next year. If we don't go to the NCAA Tournament next year, I see no reason to keep Jeff Capel around. You can't have 3 straight bad years like that and expect to stay hanging around at an Oklahoma. And if it's a Non NCAA year next year that will be 4 out of 6 years at Oklahoma. That's awful and especially from a school that had been to a post season 25 straight years before he came here. It's not like he's taking over Baylor when Drew did which was in utter shambles. We even had some really good young players when Capel got here and got Blake Griffin right away. What Capel has done to the program right now is disappointing at best.

I like your style

Will be shocked if he's still at OU if they don't make the tournament next season.

Some are just going for the "shock factor" now - the what can I think up to post about next (on both sides).

Its a shame too because this board used to be an asset to OU bball recruiting. I hope no recruit ever reads it now. Its hyperbole at its highest point.

What if TU was still here to give virtual highfives to BOB and abd? I think I would kill myself (virtually).

this is exactly how he works.. its like circular reasoning..

he says NU is good and then we lose to them and its like you lost to them?!?!

he dogs us for winning @ISU in OT i thought a win is a win??

he is a master troll and loves that we are in shambles..

Is your question directed to all of the posters on this board or only to the Sunshiners? As long as Joe's @r$e is tied to Jeff next year, I wouldn't have a problem if he decided to bring the coach back for one more season.
