If a 4 game win streak can save a job, can a streak the other way lose it?

Is your question directed to all of the posters on this board or only to the Sunshiners? As long as Joe's @r$e is tied to Jeff next year, I wouldn't have a problem if he decided to bring the coach back for one more season.

has nothing to do with just sunshiners.. im probably in the other group but the question is inconsistent as the OP contradicts himself all of the time.. i dont care either way im 50/50, but we all know his game he plays and it is tiresome

tbabd is like a sticker in the sock. You pluck out think you get it out, put the sock back on and it's still there. Damn sticker.

So, if a 4 game winning streak can save a job, can a 7 game losing streak lose it?
I don't think so, but I do think the major card in Jeff's pocket is that he was hired by Ca$tiglione. If he'd been hired by somebody else I'm not sure he's still here at this moment.

The other factor is men's BBall revenue. It's the only other sport on campus that turns a profit besides football. If it goes into the red, Jeff goes elsewhere.

Only reason he will have a job next year.

Guys, not saying I agree with ABD here but everybody needs to calm down. I actually enjoy reading his posts. Does it make everyone feel tough to call out someone over a message board?

The mods have been against calling out posters pretty much the entire time I have been a member so I am quit shocked this is allowed to continue.

Its fine to ask questions why he post that, then this. But to start making fun of the dude doesnt make you any tougher my friends.

However, it doesnt make him any less of a clown.

I would have to think the program is in the red with the beyond pathetic attendance and Capel's high salary.

Dunno. The vast majority of those empty seats are "sold" tickets.

Men's basketball barely breaks even, I don't remember the exact numbers over the past five years but the program didn't make much money. I imagine this season, men's hoops is losing money.

Its a dumb question imo. Capel will be back. Whether we like it or not he will be back next year barring something besides losing basketball games happening.

I didn't realize it was dumb to assume an 8 game losing streak and a 12-16 overall record heading into the final game might cost a coach at a top 20 basketball school EVER his job after a 13-18 season the year before...

My bad, I guess you just have to lay down and lose by 30 every week to get some of you guys in the mindset to discuss change.

Seriously abd, STFU. I am embarrased that you are a "Sooner fan". trash

hahahaha... what a clown. Pull your head out of your ass, man. Its a legit question, no matter how much BIGTIME and the other people with no expectations want to continue denying it.

Its a shame too because this board used to be an asset to OU bball recruiting. I hope no recruit ever reads it now. Its hyperbole at its highest point.

This is the problem with your line of thinking. Winning games = happy fans, happy fans = positive posting. You can't be on the verge of a 7 or 8 game losing streak and expect anyone on here to not post something about said losing streak, lol. What kinda world are you guys living in?

I've said it a million times... This board (like any other board) is a direct reflection of the current state of the program. Not many people are delusional enough to be 100% positive no matter what. Thats what OSU football fans are like before the start of every season.

What if TU was still here to give virtual highfives to BOB and abd? I think I would kill myself (virtually).

We need to get SoonerfanTU back.

Didn't you start a thread earlier today calling Nebraska a salty squad and saying that they have given good teams very close games on the road?

Ya, but I still picked OU in that thread because its been a few years since they have won a conference game on the road. But, they are well coached and tough. Its amazing that he is 17-8 without a single top 100 player on his roster.

So the bottom line here is, no matter how much they lose Jeff Capel can't be questioned this year? That seems to be general theme here. At OU, a top 20 program ever, you can have a couple of 13-18 seasons and keep on chuggin along.

Interesting.

Still, given their challenging performances on the road, and the OU product they were facing, it isn't surprising that they beat OU.

To me it looked like you were spinning that Nebraska was a much worse loss than you initially were indicating. I was pointing out that you can't have it both ways.

You bring up a fair point, and I definitely think Capel should be questioned. These last two seasons haven't exonerated him by any means. I don't think he'll be fired, but next year is his last chance to turn things around.

The way I like to determine a board line coach whether he should be fired or not would be the state of the program the following year. If capel was fired, how many people would leave....I dont think we loose any key players if capel is fired. Osby has to stay because he already redshirted, pledge and fitz arent goign anywere due to being upperclassmen now, the key would be clark

If we wouldnt loose anyone to transfer I say get rid of him now. He hasnt prooven anything. If we would loose alot of players to transfer then you have to keep him.

But guys, I dont see any way we make the tourny next season. You dont go 13-18 one year to making the tourny next year with just one good addition in osby. Osby is not goign to be a blake griffin and thats the only way we make the tourny.

Why do you get your jollies off to these situations? We're hurting. Quit making it worse, thebigabd.

To answer your question. No. Not unless the team quits, someone gets arrested, Capel makes a racial slur, etc...

No, "we're" not. I hate losing as much as anybody, but losing any type of sporting game (unless I'm being hunted by Rutger Hauer, Gary Busey, and John McGinley :ez-laugh:) does not make me hurt. This is sports, not life and some people on this message board need to figure that out.

What if TU was still here to give virtual highfives to BOB and abd? I think I would kill myself (virtually).

Well...not sure what to comment about this. On one hand, I have been one of the posters saying he deserves one more year based on the 4 game winning streak. I have criticized his coaching, and given the results 3 out of 5 years, that's fair. I was one of the posters on this message board that said even if we lost to Nebraska he still deserved another year. On the other hand, I agree with most all of ABD's posts and I agreed with TU before he was banned. So, if you want to lump me in with other realists, then so be it. We don't live in fantasy land. Sorry.

Seriously abd, STFU. I am embarrased that you are a "Sooner fan". trash

Surely Bounce has been banned for this? This is not the first time the little fella has attacked other posters. Come on mods, do what is right. This is uncalled for. Talk about embarrassing...attacking other fans of the same team is embarrassing.

If Capel leaves, I think it is very possible we lose Fitz, Pledger and Clark.

To answer the OP...

I've never seen a crowd as dismal as last night. I know most of the tickets are sold in advance, but the University makes some good revenues off concessions, and I would bet they have lost money on concessions this year. That's a negative.

The energy around the program is at an all-time low. Keeping Capel one more year could be even more disastrous to the program. The recruiting class he has so far is not like the one we lost when KS bolted to Indiana, so if he were fired, it's not like we are losing a lot and I'm sure none of the guys who have signed would go anywhere anyway. Who else is recruiting them that would be a better situation? Maybe you lose Clark, which is a big loss, but if we have another losing season next year, we would lose a lot more than just Clark.

Personally, I would be content if he got another year. I think the 4 game winning streak with a win at Ames is good enough to get him one more year. But, I'm not balancing the budget and if we lose out, I think ticket sales will be way down next year.

So, take my opinion and $1 and buy yourself a cup of coffee. :ez-laugh:

You're the man, Booger.

I'm fairly certain that if I attacked Adasooner, Soonersam, or Bigtime like this I would be banned.

Yes, you would be. Bounce has attacked me a bunch the last 2 years so this isn't his first time.

Did we ever get this figured out? For some reason I think it is contracted out to a 3rd party and OU gets a lump sum for guaranteed cash flow purposes.

I think Pledger would go back east, possibly Fitz as well. They've got two years plus their redshirt to burn. Clark is most definitely gone IMO.
