If KU wins the league this year, no one is ever going to win

I’ve been watching basketball for 20+ years, and this is the worst Kansas team I’ve ever seen.

The talent just isn’t there. Yes, injuries have factored in, but the product they have out there should not win this league. (And yes, I’m fully aware that Shaka will probably figure out a way to give this game away, but he has a significantly more talented team on the court right now).

This exact thing is posted annually. Was said multiple times last season about their talent. And as for Texas...they may have more athletic guys, but that doesn't mean they are more talented basketball players. But KU certainly hasn't come close to being as good as I expected this season. Remains to be seen whether they figure it out, and I still expect them to win the league. Heck they may win this game.

They just aren't there. If Grimes and those guys come back to school, they have a bright future. But this team is nowhere close to previous KU teams.

Ksu and bu top of the league...
Guess that explains the ass kicking they gave us...

Lol...just kidding

I'll stand by my comment. I could find dozens of posts just from last year saying this. And I don't dispute that they aren't as good as most/all recent KU teams. But they don't have to beat former KU teams to win the league. I'll be the first one to happily eat crow if some conference team finally manages to nut up and end the streak but I'll never expect it till it actually happens.

I don't care that you can find dozens of posts finding that from last year.

If you agree that this is the worst Kansas team in 20 years, then why do you disagree with the thread title? If this team wins the Big XII, no one else is winning it as long as Self is there. Because I highly doubt he ever has a team as weak as this again.

Im calling my shot. It finally ends this year. I don't care who does it. The streak must end

Sadly if they tie again they still win. It’s like the Ryder Cup or the heavyweight championship. Blake Griffin injury still haunts me.

I don't think it is THE worst team. Look at their 2012 roster. Then look at where that team ended up (national title game). That team lacked top talent and depth. Didn't have anyone close to Lawson. And I guess I don't disagree with the title of the thread. I honestly think there is at least a 50/50 chance that no one else will win it while Self is there, unless he pulls a Snyder and stays till he is 100. And Self won't do that.

And to Self's credit, he admitted that Blake's injury changed the outcome of the league that season and joked it was the only reason he was named national coach of the year lol.

That team was all juniors and seniors. This one is all freshmen and sophomores. Again, if these guys all come back they'll be a force down the road. But right now, they aren't close.

I guess if other teams don't like Kansas to win every year then go out and recruit, coach better.

But you pointed to the talent on the roster multiple times, not the experience. And my response is, this team is far more talented.

They aren't super talented. They have some skill, and can develop. But this doesn't look like previous Kansas teams. You seem to be one of those people that just argues to argue, so I'm not particularly interested in continuing this conversation. If you can't see that this is the weakest KU team in decades, then so be it.

The issue is that there isn't a great contender to dethrone KU. The 2015-16 WVU and OU teams would easily win this league IMO.

I'm one of those people who likes to have facts on my side when I debate. You pointed to it being their least talented team, so I gave a specific example within the past six years of a less talented team. You then shifted your position to point to the fact that this year's team is less experienced. You are correct about that, but it wasn't your initial point.

You think that this year's KU team is more talented than the 2012 team?

That KU team had 4 guys who played in the NBA, three of which were upperclassmen on that team.

How many on this year's KU's team that are currently playing will make it to the NBA?
