Have we really improved?

We have played 8 teams (10 total games) that are considered locks to make the NCAA Tournamnet (Ky, Az, Cincy, TAMU x 2, UT x 2, MU, KSU, KU). We have not played even one of those to a single digit margin of defeat. Unless Colorado or Baylor find a way in, we will only have one win against a possible tournament team, SWAC champ Texas Southern. That gets worse when you see that the SWAC conference RPI is 31 out of 32 conferences, with "independents" making up the 32nd. Should they lose in their conference tourney and NU or CU not get in we will have gone an entire season without beating a single tourney team.

The fact is Capel has run this company into the ground, if the big 12 was a product line we went from being in the top 4 to being in the bottom 2 positions. I am trying to put this in perspective by equating this to a business situation.

Its clear which of the posters don't actually support themselves yet. If they do its not a real job in the business world or it is a job supported by my taxes, performance and the botton line is not an issue.

In my career more is expected of me than you expect of a coach making 1 million a year. If I had 2 years as a sales manager like 3 of Capel's 5 I would be fired. I guess thats why I make the big bucks too.

I am trying to understand how any true OU fan would want to give this overpaid CEO another year. If the business explanation doesn't ring your bell we just don't think alike.

I guess I just expect better results, its a good thing the low expectation fans don't work for me. If your dropped a high producing territory's market share by 50% you wouldn't get a 6th year. My CEO wouldn't stand for it, I guess that's why I am in a high pressure private sector sales management position.

Kelvin Sampson would be a star in my business as would Bill Self, Coach K, Bob Stoops, Bill Synder and Roy Williams they find ways to win no matter the talent, product or situation. These guys are born leaders and winners, Capel is not otherwise he wouldn't have a 56% drop out rate from the troops. D-2 or a mid major is his calling. He can't handle the pressure or lead.

Yes, well, the lack of civility evident in calling total strangers idiots is juvenile. I've not openly discussed my opinion on what I think Joe C. should do, nor will I. I will say that I completely understand why some people want him fired. I will also say that I think anyone who doesn't want him fired, yet, hasn't dismissed the last 5 years.

Exactly right. Problem is you miss the point of your statement. You dismiss 3 out of 5 years at the bare minimum. First 3 years of Jeff's stint were damn near all one could ask. Last year there were major problems. You predicted an 0-16 conference record for this squad. Obviuosly those expectations have been exceeded.

At OU, you can commit serious NCAA violations or you can be a complete boob in the booth and not get put on the hot seat. I obviously dont know every high profile AAU team coach, but i do know one...and he has said nothing of the sort...

At this point, those who want him gone will post anything they hear negative about the guy regardless if it is a reputable source or not...

There are plenty of stats to pile up against Capel at this point without posting false info that is heresay...
