we need a new coach, I say we go after Geno Auriemma. Would be great for both our programs. Throw about $3 Million his way and we'll be set.

We already tried that when we hired Capel. Joe C. made the call early, early on in our search and Geno said no.

Geno has said repeatedly that the only men's programs he's interested in are Duke and North Carolina.

True, but he admitted he said that because those would never materialize. We catch him on a down year, even though the streak hurts. I think if we could keep Capel a year, Geno would be easier because he loses Maya, the streak will have ended and he will be looking for more to do.

He and Coach Coale are great friends. I don't think its a stretch he would come.

I say full court Tubby Smith.

It is always amusing when fans of a school like Mississippi State thinks they can attract the head coach of Duke.

Geno is not going anywhere. He is 56, and he will not be relocating. His roots are in Connecticut as is family. At 56, he wouldn't be interesting in building a long-term program for a time in which he will be retired.

I'm not sure his temperament would work with males. He is more likely to kick a kid with an ego off the team. He is in charge, not some high school kid who thinks he knows basketball and is a divine gift to immortality. I doubt that the typical HS All-American would last a week in his program. His conditioning alone would cause a rebellion.

Funniest post of the night.

Don't you think that is what we need? A coach who doesn't take **** from anyone including some prima donnas? We could have used that this year instead of letting the prisoners run the asylum. And his conditioning would be good, back to the Sampson days when we outworked teams with good players.

You make some good points, but to compare our basketball program to Mississippi State's is ridiculous.

Get used to it with him. He and 35tangotango have something against the men's program. Agreed that comparing us to Mississippi State is ridiculous.

You guys are really missing the forest for the trees. Geno Auriemma is not going to be the head men's basketball coach at the University of Oklahoma next season or any season in the future. Full stop.

Well I agree with that. I don't want him anyway.

Tubby, BCG, Billy Tubbs, or Buzz Williams would be my pick of the litter if need be...

You guys are nothing but banwagon fans. One bad year...We lost everyone and the freshmen class was horrible and you think we should be awesome.

Blake was great but there was more than just him on this team. Taylor-gone, Johnson-gone, Leary-gone, Pattillo-gone.

TALKING ABOUT A NEW COACH ALREADY...GIVE ME A BREAK.

Its not last year thats bothering everyone its the fact that we are looking at serious sanctions again as well as the class he just brought in fell apart. We should be adding pieces to the puzzle this year not rebuilding a team two years in a row. Besides its not like this year was a great coaching job by the staff by any stretch of the imagination

Great post camp, explain why it's so funny to you? Thanks clown.

Because he's openly stated that the only men's jobs he would take are UNC and Duke...he said that less than two weeks ago. He has a great gig at UCONN, they've won 70-something straight, makes good money, etc. If I said let's offer Bill Self, Coach K and Roy Williams you would laugh at me, but they have the same percentage of accepting an OU offer as Geno (that's 0% btw).

He has and will have zero, I repeat ZERO, interest in a mid-level Big XII job (which is what OU is as of 4/9/10). For an east coast guy who is not familiar with our program, that's what OU is to him. Castiglione has already tried once and Geno straight up said "not interested." Joe C. isn't going to fork over a Stoops comparable salary during a recession for a bball coach, sorry, that's just not economically feasible.

Your post is was funny because it couldn't be further from reality and it doesn't make financial sense. OU can get a solid coach in the $800K-1.5M range, no sense on dropping double that.
