I know he's been nearly automatic from the arc lately, but I think the bigger development has been manek's inside game.

Not to say he'll dominate the likes of that kid from WVU (Culver) or Azubuike from KU. But he does still mix it up with them and his footwork inside is excellent.

That little move tonight when he was too deep underneath was beautiful and he's had a few others like that lately. Plus he's hitting a little fall-away and a drop-step and that up and under he likes. He could be in rarified air next season at this rate.

yes he could

he has gotten better and better every year (and stronger every year)

he is going to be a problem for teams next season

I mean, teams are doubling him in the post. He's a willing passer too! He really has improved and having a great season.

Hes good for one awful skip pass a game. LOL

10ppg as a freshman... 12ppg as a sophomore... 16ppg as a junior.

Manek will go down as a great Sooner when its all said and done. He is likely 1st or 2nd team all big 12 this year and will be pre-season all big 12 1st team next year as a senior.

He is a legit star. There aren't many players like him in the country. He hits EVERYTHING. 43% shooter from the extended 3pt line, many are deeper than the line, many are with guys all over him. He hits spot up 3's, transition 3's, step-back 3's, 3's after a pump fake. He is the total package in terms of a shooter.

Still a bit to go in conference but I don’t see how he’s not 1st team all conference. His PPG, Blocks, FG %, 3 pt%, all way up there vs other conference players. He’s also the only player to score 30 points or more twice.

We need to appreciate what we have right now and really soak in just how well he is playing. He’s really grown up and it’s fun to watch.

yes he hit 1000 career points early in his 3rd year ... he is a very very good college basketball player

he's going to be right there with eduardo -- top 10 in points and rebounds over his career. he's really a stellar college basketball player.

He had a couple of great passes from the post being doubled...

Poor dude has to guard their BIG post...but he's battling..

Getting better in the post on both ends. His passing will make it hard to double him. Has a good jump hook over his left shoulder, and a turnaround shot over his right shoulder.

I give him a ton of credit. I always recognized the things he did well and considered him a good player, but got annoyed by his occasional lack of hustle when he was frustrated, and by his struggles to consistently defend and rebound. But he has improved all of those areas, and, as the OP notes, he has gotten better in the post. LK has also gone out of his way to praise his defense on numerous occasions this season. He still has his moments when he doesn't sprint back when he is upset about something, but his production and consistency are much better.

I don't think he's first team all big 12.. I think Doolittle will get it over him. No way we get both guys on that list.

Doolittle does more for the team, best rebounder, best defender and a solid facilitator. Manek shoots it better and can block shots a bit better.

It all depends on how the rest of the season plays out. Doolittle disappeared for 4-5 games in a row. Lost his confidence. Manek destroyed during that time. Just look at the big 12 stats to this point. Manek has outplayed him and its not even close.

This is a good problem to debate.

I’ll stick with Manek as of today and in big 12 play.

manek has been the better player this season
more efficient he is actally a shot blocker

doo is averaging 12.27 PPG in conf games .. Manek is at 16.27

4 more PPG in a much more effienct way ..

Cant wait to hear Leroy's input. He has always been a big Manek fan. LMAO!

:ez-laugh:

He has done a great job. He shot poorly at KSU and ISU but every other conference game has been very good to great. I think he is passing better and making more moves around the bucket. He also seems to be forgiving himself when he misses. He had a tendency to get down on himself.

Manek is also far ahead in just about every advanced metric

Win shares BPM ( which by the way while Doo is a little ahead in DBPM manek is far ahead in OBPM and overall)

Again isn’t it fun to have this debate? Two top tier players in the league.

So much better than the other old worn out hot takes.

If they both end up 1st team things went very very well the last 1/3 of the season!!

Doo I think has been better all year, but yes in the Big 12 Manek has been better. I just think the Big 12 teams see what Doolittle does for this team night in and night out. He's the leader and a Senior, so he gets the nod if it's super close in my book.
