Ingersoll to return as Douglass boys coach

Okay maybe the 3rd time will be a charm. Although, I highly doubt it.

I'm asking you, OSUCPA, not the NCAA.

Can you sit there and with a straight face, without having thrown down a bottle of Glenlivet, or having been strung out on heroin, that OSU averaged over 10k in attendance last year?

Facts hurt. It's okay, let me go get you a tissue...

You do realize they calculate attendance the same way for all these universities...right? It is apples to apples comparison.

Last time I checked 10k is still greater than 8k.
Reimbursing students for tickets obviously didn't work out as well as planned.

Are you going to answer the question? In addition, are you familiar with OSU's student ticket plan?

Nobody on this board ever argued OU has great basketball attendance. But to say OSU has some great fan base and attendance is nearly equally as laughable.

Now, answer the question.

No.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=7136

I'll save you some time. OU was #8. OSU was #24. That was published in 2010, and accounted for the last 31 years. The last 2 seasons haven't changed OU being in front of OSU.

That's fine. I would agree that in the last 31 years OU has been slightly better than OSU.

Thankfull the basketball programs have been around a lot more than 31 (now 33) years. Thankfully the future isn't determined solely by past events.

Yes, OSU doesn't reimburse student tickets. They cost $242.

OSU has a great fan base for basketball especially during winning seasons. The arena is better for basketball which creates a better home atmosphere.

College basketball is all about home atmospheres. To say that doesn't matter is just ridiculous. Go ask Duke if their home atmosphere doesn't matter o KU. It matters. And when GIA gets going...it is hard to come out with a win. Even in down years at OSU...there have been some major upsets. See: KU in 2010 or Mizzou this year for recent examples.

OU basketball fans have OU football and the OU athletic dept. to blame for the OU basketball attendance problems. There is no reason that a school that can get 80K fans to come watch a football game shouldn't be able to get 10K fans year in and year out. That still doesn't change the fact that LNC is terrible for bball. It is a great building for events like concerts but it is a terrible arena for college bball.

At best OSU and OU are about the same in terms of their basketball program. I could care less (still) about what you have to say about it. The variability between the programs is small.

It's a good thing OSU had a basketball program before 1984!

Since we are comparing OSU Basketball vs OU Basketball...let's just compare OSU Basketball vs OU Basketball.

Oklahoma State Cowboys
Tournament Appearances: 24
Final Fours: 6
Championships: 2 (1945, 1946)
Win-Loss: 38-23

Oklahoma Sooners
Tournament Appearances: 26
Final Fours: 4
Championships: 0
Win-Loss: 35-26

This is ALL-TIME. No biased - simply FACTS.

The end.

By the way it is pretty sad when people dismiss the 1945, 1946 National Championship games. You might want to pay a visit to Bob Kurland in Bartlesville, Oklahoma who is still kicking it up there. He hasn't forgot what he did while in Stillwater and I sure hope no one has forgot how he and Iba won the US Gold medal during the 48 and 52 olympics

All-Time No bias.

Oklahoma has won more total games.
Oklahoma has more NCAA tournament appearances.
Oklahoma owns the all-time series record in basketball, 127–93.

***Oklahoma's accolades weren't accomplished before anything resembling modern basketball was established***

And can you tell me why Tulsa has outperformed OSU for the last 40+ seasons? I really have a hard time understanding this; I'm hoping you can help.

The End.

LOL

For being such a crappy program with such a crappy fan base and home court advantage, how did OU EVER manage to have the nation's longest home winning streak (OOC I think) for so long? We've continually been really good at home, which IMO, debunks any of this "lame crowd at basketball game" stuff that gets spewed.

You are right...OSU bball was abysmal during those years but it is stupid to only look at a certain number of years and not the whole.

Actually, it's pretty stupid to look back so far that there are few people even alive that remember some of the games you are referencing.

When talking about college basketball powers, nobody brings up San Francisco, yet they have titles both won after OSU's.

When talking about college football powers, nobody brings up Princeton or Yale, both of which DOMINATED when the sport first began, to the tune of 28 and 26 championships, respectively.

At some point, when you are measuring programs, you have to pick a starting point that isn't all the way back when the first game was played.

What I don't get, is how some fans can out of one side of their mouth say things that happened 70 years ago are irrelevant, but, then out of the other side tout the all-time record, when many of the games happened that long ago or even longer.

The last 20 years, its OSU-24, OU-22. The last 10 years, OU-13, OSU-11. I think those are much more representative of the closeness of the two programs, don't you guys?
