The only thing standing between UT and last place in the Big 12 is a win over Tech in Austin. The Whorns are currently in next to last place with a 1-7 record (9-11 overall).

Will Kabongo's return prevent Rick from being gored by hacked off Longhorn fans, or will he join Mack Brown as the subject of a growing number of fans who would prefer to see him gone?

They're having a brutal year, but I'd be surprised if they reaching for the pitchforks and torches just yet. I don't think they're all that passionate about their hoops program, for one thing, and for another, it's just one season. He's been awfully successful, and he'll surely get a pass on this year.

Mack: They don't fire you at Texas for losing unless you're an assistant.
Greg Davis: :(

On the hot seat? Yes. Relatively warm. But he won't be fired this year.
I think a year like this means NEXT year is very, very big for Barnes.

Unless the team flat out gives up on him.

I'm sure you're right, it's doubtful that UT fans will be ready to run Barnes out of town if Kabongo fails to give them a boost. Still, Longhorn basketball fans can't be happy with what has been an horrible season by Texas standards so far. They do indeed love football more. But their pride may not let them continue to tolerate poor play by a team with plenty of talent, if things don't get better soon.

A basketball "insider" who posts over at Orangebloods.com came out and basically said that Randle is going there.

That might save his job.

Tough to believe when Randle recently called his visit to NC State his "best visit yet"

It's not confindence is Texas arrogance. They have it no matter their record and they think they can get anyone they want.

Given their recent history in both football and basketball, I'm sure some of their boosters are desperate enough to go there.

don't you think they would do that with football first... or are they just not getting their moneys worth
