With all the OU programs that are winning championships, making the final four, being in the finals of their respective sports, it would seem to be likely that the pressure will rise dramatically on Sherri and the program to win and be much better in the coming season.
Even in the smallest women's programs this year, most of our teams have finished their seasons ranked high in conference or nationally.
The major exceptions are volleyball and women's basketball.
Both of the coaches in those sports are getting long in then tooth and have not had programs that can compete at the highest level in the last 2 or 3 years.
I can see Sherri being under a more increased pressure next year to produce big winners than the volleyball coach. I don't know if she can do it frankly, given the last few years.
Yes, we have done well and been in the tournament but with WBB being the the 3rd or 4th most popular sport, under the spotlight all the time and losing when the rest of our programs are winning, that cannot be a good thing.
Everyone loves Sherri, especially in our administration and she's not ever going to get fired (at least not unless we collapse over the next couple of years), but if she doesn't start producing a major contender in conference and nationally, I can see the hot seat going from low to medium or semi-hot within two years, perhaps even next year.
Recruiting aside, she's got to produce a product that is winning more on the floor in big games and in conference and national tournaments.
And, for me personally, I'm not interested in who goes to Bible study and who doesn't and who's above reproach, or on the borderline or whatever personally unless they do something that is illegal or hurts the university.
