They havent seemed as smooth lately.

I have heard some say it's a slump.

I wonder.

Since they had been together for so long the starters sync'ed and played well early in the season. I wonder if teams aren't just starting to catch up now.

Slump or not?

Not a slump. Teams scouting OU better, I am sure, but LK had some new wrinkles offensively last week, and I expect the same this week. Woodard, Cousins and Buddy shoot it today - no slump. Lattin on boards and in paint key to me

jordan Woodard is in a slump and so is Lattin. Amonth or so ago it was cousins and Spangler who were slumping more.

All players go through slumps. Ou just needs to drive to the bucket when the defense is so perimeter oriented.

Woodard, slump

Or a "market correction" as he obviously wasn't going to shoot 55% for the year.

Jordan Woodard's ball handling IQ is very poor right now. Cousins was in a obvious slump shooting and ball handling, but Woodard just has never been a smart player with the ball in his hands.

Why does he constantly make drives to the basket, then fake a 5 foot jumper to miraculously half turn and pass the ball completely behind him. Most of those passes go to the opposing guy he just blew by, nobody or a guaranteed fight for the ball scenario.

I watched him do it game after game in 2016. :facepalm

Maybe we already peaked. Happens to teams every year. It's frustrating but that's what it looks like.

How can we peak if we don't even remotely having any post play???

Beat the current number 1 team by 25 on a neutral site would be a start.

And Spangler is a 5th year Sr starting for his 3rd straight year at OU he is what he is

I don't think it's a slump, unrealistic for a jump shooting team to shoot such high percentages all season. It was going to happen at some point, better now than March.

Our guard play peaked, but since when our post play peaked????

You realize "peaked" means played as good as they can, right? I'd argue Spangler can't play any better. I'd argue Lattin can't play any better. Those guys get the majority of the minutes.

Will Lattin, or Manyang, or Buford get better next year? Sure. But I don't think they have much more to give this year. This is who they are. So yes, as a team, as a unit, I think we've peaked. And I think it's pretty simple really. When we play teams that can get out of sync on offense, we're going to struggle a bit. When we can get good clean looks from outside AND they go down at a record pace, we're as good as anybody.

I would say this team peaked at Baylor. Now you have three players ( buddy , Woodard, and Spangler ) who all look like the morning after a 3 day bingger . They are completely ran in the ground .
Not developing depth has basically cost us a chance at the big 12 title.
I mean seriously we could easily be on a three game losing streak ( last second shot against Texas)
What's sad about the last three games ..... We SHOULD have lost all three , were outplayed in everyone .
We are a spot up shooting team who is wore down . Defensively we are playing some of teh worse interior defense I've seen in years . Guards , posts it doesn't matter .... If they get in teh paint they are scoring or going to the line

Really? I didn't really notice anything new. But I was hoping we may add a wrinkle or two to get our post guys a couple of easy looks per game. I'm not talking "back to the basket" plays, but more of the "alley oop" or downscreen types of plays.

It's both. It's a slump and we're being defended better. Our defense has been pretty awful lately, however, too. We cannot advance to the Final 4 the way we're playing right now.

I thought our poor start today really bled over to our defense. I though all along our defense would be the key today. When the O struggled the D did too.
Somehow we hung in there and even took a lead. But really awful perimeter D cost us.

Most sports its an emotional thing...i didnt see game, watching son's baseball game...

But if ya start out slow...off or def it just can snowball. Takes a ton of energy to get back. When OU's off is rolling...everyone is on fire...so that rolls over to def. Def has struggled because the off has...just my 2 cents.

I think teams have figured OU out a little, add tired legs, and I believe they reached their peak already. Example..Villanova would most likely defeat OU if they were to play right now.

Agreed, unfortunately. :(

Still lot of ball to be played, OU can get their second wind, get hot and depending on who they face make a deep run come March
