Is This Rock Bottom For the Program?

BMDs are holding their cash for Brent's buyout.

Our best hope is for Porter to take another job and for us to waive all or part of the buyout.
That's the other sad thing to me. Brent is just as bad as Porter, and it's plain to see, despite some fans trying to convince themselves otherwise. There are folks who think that it is just a matter of "getting healthy," or having a new OC and QB, and we will be back to being OU. In reality, the man went 3-7 last year against teams with a pulse. He has done a terrible job recruiting and developing offensive talent, has a history of terrible coaching staff hires (maybe Arbuckle is a rare exception), and is utterly incompetent as an in-game coach and decision maker. Next season will probably see even worse game management since he whiffed on finding a legit coach to come in and help run the defense, so Brent will be even more focused on the defensive side. We will waste another season (mush like this year with Loser), and in 10 months, everyone (or most people) will wonder why it took so long for some people to see the obvious.

Was this a BMD meeting? Was it during our losing streak with upset BMDs or do you have any other inside info on this?

Curious, bc the when where and why seem to matter. Especially if Joe C ignores their concerns
I'll have to look back at my posts for the when. It was around when stitt passes some nil related bill. But i know the meeting happened bc someone posted on Twitter the pic of them at the same restaurant I was told where it was going to be at. But it was more about nil generally and prolly football but pm was on the list too, If my memory is correct

Maybe everyone is just assuming he’ll move on on his own. If the problem really is the university and not him, why wouldn’t he want to go somewhere where he’ll get more support even if it is a mid major.

I know some people think he might leave to avoid being fired, but I still find that hard to believe. Maybe someone can point to some examples of a power conference coach resigning and going back to a mid major to take a pay cut in order to avoid being axed, but I sure can't think of any off the top of my head. And if he gets the sense Joe isn't in a rush to fire him, he probably plans to come back for another year. I mean, think how tough it is to have to commission a new culture wall at a new school. Those cheesy, meaningless things don't build themselves!

The only way that would be remotely feasible is if we say, hey we will pay you 4.5 million of your 6.5 million, and will allow you to save face and accept another job. Saves the university 2 million and saves him that fired tag.

Because at the end of the day we had to pay 750k to Loyola to buyout Moser's contract. That was 4 years ago, any coach you're going to go hire you will pay the same if not more because guys like Wade and Pitino are thankful to there universities for giving them another shot. Without looking they are either signed into university friendly deals or will sign come march.

I don’t understand why the university was so quick to give him and Brent extensions with raises
Joe c is dumb. And blinded with bv Bc hes an "ou" guy and that clouds dumb people's judgment like joe c. We took bv over lanning already in the first place. I was told Lanning was literally physically packing his bags to go to ou..

I know they had a meeting previously this year where the topic was specifically about pm's future.. it must not have made much of an effect on Joe C.
I’ve heard all along that Joe is on Porter’s side. That’s why I’ve said. I didn’t expect a change no matter what happened this year. They know they’ve set our coaches up to fail. It’s also why Joe needs to go.

This is what I think will happen. He’ll come back this way somewhere.
Yes. Not sure where, but he'll head back to the Midwest. Perhaps Drake if McCollum takes a bigger job?

Porter has a good agent that is getting his name out there for other jobs. I saw his name floated for the Indiana job. Crazy but true. As I told someone on another board, Porter is closer to being fired by Oklahoma than to being hired by Indiana.

Shameless. The only sales pitch must be.. "yeah he hasn't made the tournament in 4 years but listen, that is all bc ou fans don't come to the games well enough and all ou's fault, remember that final 4 10 years ago? Eh? Remember?"

I don't care if they five Moser or not, but why aren't they doing the some with BV?

Bc it's apples and oranges. Bv's buyout is wayy more than pm's. Thanks Joe c, idiot.

Neither of the 2 should have ever obtained a buyout via extension..

I said the subject line on a post about 2 years ago and everyone here thought I was crazy.
Not everyone lol! And think how much hate those of us who saw this coming have gotten the past two years, just for stating what was plain to see for anyone who could see things objectively rather than getting swayed by whether they "like" Moser.
