Isaiah Cousins signs with the Jazz

Good for Isaiah!

Say, come to think of it, I wouldn't mind earning an extra 50K before the G league starts.

I agree on both, I'd love 50k. He was a very underappreciated player. Best of luck making the team.

Good for him, seems like he'd fit in well there. Favorite OU player since Hollis

I hope Isaiah makes the team! No one I can think of deserves it more. Every player on our roster this season could learn from the work ethic he showed as a player at OU.

Same Here BC, Isaiah keeps beating the odds. Mt. Vernon stand up! He should have been playing with his old "Buddy" in Sac-Town but I'm hoping he gets some run to prove he can play some smooth Jazz.

Found a little info on the Salt lake city g-league website from October, 2017.

The Salt Lake City Stars announced today that they have acquired the returning player rights to guard Isaiah Cousins, along with the 33rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA G League Draft, in exchange for the Stars’ first-round pick (second overall) in Saturday’s draft.

Cousins (6-4, 191, Oklahoma) was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings (59th overall) in the 2016 NBA Draft and appeared in 50 games (all starts) for the Reno Bighorns, the Kings’ G League affiliate, during the 2016-17 season and averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 35.0 minutes of action.

I'm not sure how hot a commodity the g-league draft pick rights are but the Jazz gave up the # 2 pick for Cousin's and the #33 pick. Seems the Jazz may have a little more invested into Cousin's future as compared to just signing a guy on a whim.

Just a fun little comparison, Abdel Nader (now with the Thunder) was drafted one pick before Cousin's by the Boston Celtics with the 58th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. Nader was named the 2016–17 NBA Development League Rookie of the Year averaging 21.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 40 games for the Maine Red Claws.

Good for him, make that money while it can be had

He's a guy I've never understood why he hasn't made it. Can play defense and shoot 3s. Seems like he is a no brainer as somebody's 2nd or 3rd PG.

His totals so far in his really small sample size for the preseason:
5 mins, 4 pts, 100% fg, 1 asst, 0 to's.

I agree, but I think the answer is that it is simply extremely tough to make it to the NBA. But I absolutely think he is a guy who still has a chance to stick if he finds the right fit. I still wonder if things would have been different if he hadn't gotten hurt during summer league in 2016, right after being drafted. For guys like him, those games are very important in terms of making an impression and making the roster, and he had a minor injury that kept him out of the majority of the games.

hopefully he got a bunch of steak off the training table in his 10 days.

I think he saw a total of maybe five minutes of playing time.
