I've NEVER been so mad at Woodard.

I think this thread has evolved from the fear and trauma caused by our late game meltdowns

And posts that stem from mid-game fear and trauma are usually best suited to the game thread.

jackson, you ask why people are objecting to your thread. With every good intention and with all due respect, I'll try to explain why: Because your post came in the heat of the action, following a frustrating play in the final minutes of a relatively tight game, it wasn't a calm and considered post; it was more of an emotional outburst. No problem with that -- we all have them during games -- but outbursts like that fit better in the game thread than as threads of their own.

I mean, honestly, just look at the subject line for the post. Woodard has what might well have been his finest game of his collegiate career, leading our beloved Sooners to a road win over our cross-state rivals, and the first thing many of us see after the final buzzer is a thread titled "I've NEVER been so mad at Woodard."

Let's face it, the half-life on an angry outburst made in a moment of frustration is awfully short. It comes off as oddly out of place after a big win. Sure, you were frustrated for that one moment, as many of us were, and if you'd expressed that frustration in the game thread, no one would have even remembered it. Or if you'd addressed that play even ten minutes after the game, your post would have, I'm guessing, taken on a very different tone.

You very likely wouldn't have gone with that inflammatory subject line, for one, and you'd have probably included more praise for the team and Jordan in particular (yes, I know you praised him before bashing him) and expressed elation over the win.

In short, you'd have been calmer and happier, and your post might well have come off as more reasoned and considered.

I'm no admin; you don't have to please me. But it's frustrating to come to the board in the seconds following a huge win, and find negative threads, especially one criticizing the (arguably) most valuable player in the game we just won.

That's the last I'll say on it. To me, it's not even a tough call where your post should have gone, but I've said my piece and (hopefully) made my point, and I'll leave it at that.

Thanks sky but I'm not too worried but do hate it that the FEW people who do get all up in arms over starting a thread can't just come and discuss...But glad MOST are able to post their opinion regarding the topic(agree or disagree) without being a sticklerabout where the topic started definitely glad the mods don't see it that way...would take away from good topics... Glad I was able to make my point that seems many agree with and most could care less about where it's posted considering it was something that has been addressed by others in game threads and it came close to being a HUGE defining moment in one of the biggest games of the year...there's plenty of times where I go on boards and wish to just enjoy a win...only to see threads that are griping about many players who have had stellar games...I've seen people gripe about Hield or cousin or Thomas when they've had stellar games...but sometime there are games where those guys might have great games but have one defining play that could or did cost is severely...thus the discussion. But
Like Ive said MANY a time...Woodard had a great game and thankfully that ONE boneheaded play didn't cost us...but he needs to watch it for future game defining moments. Wish I could have been able to just discuss with most people over what their thoughts were on the actual play rather then whether a thread should be posted about it or not. I got good convo on some but after all the thread was taken waaaay off topic instead of just simply being taken for what it was...a dam thread.

Another prime example of over analysis. If you get into your car and you find out it doesn't want to start does it really matter whether the car is facing north or south? Apparently, to some it certainly does. If people lived by the credo "live and let live" and had some modicum of levity in their respective lives they would never have to fret over having Ebeneezer as their nom de plume.

Most members here can distinguish a post made in the heat of things thus it does not matter its location, for it is what it is and nothings going to change that perception.

Jordan Woodard's stats against OSU: He led the team in scoring with 17 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the field (3 of 5 from three), 6 of 6 from the free throw line. He also had 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Let me repeat that, he had FIVE STEALS.

That's one heck of a game in my book! Yet, here we are on the second page of a thread about a 10 seconds call some posters say was a bad call in the first place. Can someone please tell me why you're focusing so much attention on one negative, when the kid did so many things well in that game?

It should be one heck of a game in anyone's book. He was terrific. He made a mistake on that play. It's amazing that people go nuts and feel like they need to create a new thread to bash a player over any single play. It's frustrating but no one's going to play a perfect game.

Anyone feeling compelled to create a thread like this ought to be forced to also list all the good plays that the player made during the game as well, just to provide the author with a little perspective.
