Jamal to transfer

I would say this is not good, but perhaps we have a transfer coming in. We’ll need another ball handler.

i would guess that he knows 2 things

1 we are going to bring in a transfer guard

2 Harmon was/is going to start at PG next year

Not surprising.

Why is this not surprising? He's been a starter almost from the start.

I'm very surprised by this news. I really enjoy watching him play (save the lack of offense, which I still had hopes he'd turn that around). Who could be transferring in that would have this big an impact on him?

And I will say that I was disappointed with Harmon's freshman season. I haven't given up on him by a long shot, but I expected more from him as a freshman.

Good kid. Not a huge loss.

This.

I hate to say this, but I'm kind of glad. Sick of our fans sticking up for the kid. I get it, he does some other things solidly enough. OU shouldn't have starting guards playing the minutes he played, and averaging only 5 ppg on poor shooting percentages. Can't happen in Lon's offense, and expect us to be anything more than we've been the last few seasons.

I thought it might be Williams on the way out, but I figured somebody was as many transfers as we were going after. Didn't really make sense. Now it does.

Wow, did not see that coming. Two year starter.

That being said, I think he should go down a level. American, Mountain West, WAC, Conference USA, etc. He will do much better there after a redshirt year. He should have a great career.

Williams and Reaves are competent at handling the ball, and I suspect Harmon will be the primary.

You need to get over that. Some people love to bash players that don't meet their expectations, no matter how unreasonable those expectations might be. Other people will stand up for a player as long as they feel he's give 100% and stays out of trouble.

Harmon is the likely candidate for the point responsibility which then places Jamal at the scoring guard position and he is a fish out of water in doing so. He rarely exposed the opposing team's defense which led to defenders sagging off of him so as to help other defenders. When this occurs it makes it harder on his teammates to score. A player's responsibility is to make it easier for teammates as opposed to harder. He found himself in a proverbial "rock and a hard place."

Unexpected, but not surprising for me either.

I have been a huge JB fan since he committed to OU going on three years ago. But, he has not been the player I thought he would be. This may prove to be for the best. I wish him well!

It is possible to stick up for a player yet want more at the same time. You can speak of rationality, but their is a chance he did not meet the expectations of the coaching staff.

Wow, I was a huge JB fan his freshman year. I assumed his offense would come along his sophomore season. I grew increasingly frustrated by his lack of production but I liked all the little things he did. I did not see this one coming. I have mixed emotions.

Shoot, very disappointing and a significant loss. I know lots of people on the board think that a player isn’t important or helpful if they aren’t scoring a lot, but he was a contributor in so many subtle ways. Seems like a good dude and was obviously never a source of any problems, so I wish him well at his next stop.
