Jordan's big brother, James, had 10 threes (10 of 15) in the loss to SMU this afternoon. He also had 6 rebounds. James can be a streaky shooter. But I have to believe OU could have used a player like him every season since he signed with Tulsa. He can score, rebound, handle the ball and play good defense.

I said when OU didn't show him much interest coming out of high school that he could be one of those Tulsa players we look back on and wish he was a Sooner. I'm not saying he would start. What I'm saying is that he would have given us a valuable player off of the bench who is capable of scoring in a lot of ways.

He was going off!

I can't imagine anyone disagreeing, Ada, we missed on this fella.

No to downgrade Jordan but I personally think James is the better of the 2 right now.

Needs to graduate early and get on down to Norman to replace Hield (if he leaves).

James over.... Buddy, Isaiah, or jelon ... I know you'll say jelon. But you wouldn't of the last 2 years in my opinion.

Hindsight sure...

Meh. When you look at his stats for the season, and the level of competition TU played against, he doesn't really excite me.

Exactly. I would throw Amric Fields from TCU into this as well. Along with James, he would be a solid state product as an option off the bench. However, at the time both were recruited, we had no room or had better options available. I'd love to have either right now but not at the expense of losing out on someone we have or might be getting.

I do like fields as well, but like you said someone doesnt sign with OU (lattin, manyang, and McNease) if we have another big on the roster...

We probably wouldn't have gotten Thomas is my guess.

If you'll read my post again, you'll see that I simply repeated what I said when OU passed on James and he signed with Tulsa. Too bad I didn't have that crystal ball you guys used to see into the future. If I had it back then, I would have known Thomas would be available this season. And, I would have known all about OU signing Odomes, James and Manyang in next year's class. Maybe you can let me borrow it someday. ;)

Seriously. Read what I said again and you'll see that I was talking about Jordan's older brother as a nice addition to the team due to his skill set and ability to knock down shots from the perimeter. I even said he would be a role player. Now, armed with that bit of knowledge about what I actually said, take a look at our roster the past three years and tell me we didn't have any room for a kid like him? If I wanted to mention names, I could point to two scholarships players on this year's team I would gladly remove to make room for him.

I didn't say anything about next year. But, if nothing changes in our projected roster, I could still find a ship for him by removing two players who aren't as good. Kruger wouldn't do that, of course. But the scholarship space is there if you keep an open mind. Do I need to spell it out for you?

I completely agree he would be a wonderful addition to this year's team but I certainly don't look at him and have any regret about OU not offering.

At the time during that class we had Hield, Hornbeak, and Cousins in that class, so we definitely didn't need another wing. You could argue that you would of rather took Woodard over Cousins, I would have then just for the fact that it gave us a better chance at Jordan and I thought James could contribute to a certain degree.

To the point about future seeing crystal ball about Odomes, James, Manyang, & Thomas. The first 3 listed are pointless because we would've gotten them regardless whether James was here or not. Also Thomas doesn't go hand in hand with James either. I was talking about if we got Fields (TCU) we wouldn't have gotten Thomas, if we got James then we wouldn't have gotten either Hornbeak, Hield, or Cousins (probably Cousins).

Now to the point about replacing 2 scholarship players with James, I'm assuming you mean Walker & Booker (if not please correct me you know what happens when you assume). They both have nothing to do whether or not we had James. We needed Booker to be a wing in a different class to have some balance among our graduating classes. Also Walker didn't come here because we didn't offer James, he came here because Hornbeak transferred.

I would have been strongly opposed to take JW over Cousins. Some asked why OU would use a scholarship on Cousins his freshman season. I wasn't one of them. I saw the potential and urged those who questioned his worth to be patient.

For the record, I'm talking about Walker and Cole. Walker has played fairly well at times. He's just not as good as James Woodard. I haven't seen anything to suggest that Cole will ever play a meaningful minute in an OU uniform. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate C. J.'s contribution to the team. By all accounts, he's a great student and an even better teammate. I was also in favor of giving him a scholarship two years ago. But when you debate what would have been best for the team from a player's point of view, JW would have been the best option. That's all I'm saying.

If you oppose James over Cousins then there was no room for James. At the time you definitely didn't take James over Hield or Hornbeak. And like I said Walker is a product of Hornbeak leaving, not missing out on James.

I was never a fan of giving Cole a scholarship, even though he has served the purpose he came here for. But he still had no bearing in missing out on James, I don't know how they could have gotten 4 wings in the same class to come.
