No one - NO ONE knows whats going on with the coaching search outside of Joe the prez and a few select people who aren't telling. All of the statements about this coach and that coach are not interested in OU or have turned down OU - are all just BS, speculation. No one knows anything but Joe. The media, the fans, the message boards are all getting their panties in a wad over nothing. Because no one knows about anything thats going on but Joe and he hasn't said sh*t. Sources don't know - they think they do but it's only a guess. Most of it just makes for fodder for TV, Radio and Message boards.
Coaches like Weber will put their name out there just so their fanbase will think someone is interested in them. We understand why with Weber. Many will "Have no interest" in a job they were never offered.
Strange how many that were "on our radar" have signed new higher contracts.
With all of this said I don't understand why Capel was let go without a plan already in place. Maybe there was one and something changed or the deal hasn't been made yet. But I don't know - neither do you - only Joe knows.

I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the beautiful weekend in Oklahoma, make the Medival Fair and when Joe wants me to know I will.

You're wise beyond your years, GMBAS (unless, of course, you're a really old guy/gal). I believe you hit the nail on the head in regard to all these coaches that have supposedly "turned down" the Sooners (you can't turn down what you were never offered). And the media? Well, I can think of only a handful of message board posters who have been bigger clowns than the state/national media and its coverage of this search.

I know no more than anyone else, but I won't be surprised if Joe C. reveals the identity of OU's new coach 4-5 days after Monday's championship game.
