The fact that Woodard has a jump shot at all is a big improvement. I can't hardly believe the progress that he has made from his freshman year until now. As a freshman he had no jump shot. It was a wild drive inside hoping for free throws or a set shot from the perimeter. Teams played off of him in order to help out on other players. They didn't respect him offensively.
He was much better as a sophomore, but is even better this season. This year he is a real force. His 3 point shot is much better. I was skeptical on how effective he would be on the wing, but he has proved me wrong. I want he and Buddy taking open 3's. The other players not so much. He's even shooting jumpers off the dribble as defenders close out on him.
Another thing about Woodard is he may be the smartest player on the team. He's sneaky. He plays really good help defense. He positions himself well without the ball. He has even improved his vertical leap. I don't think he could have dunked the ball 2 years ago like he did on that last bucket against Harvard. As a result of all these factors, his rebounding is really good for someone under 6' tall.
It's obvious how hard he must have worked in the off-season.
