Many of you don't know the poster affectionately known as "Ooner". By his post count, he's never been active on this board, but he used to have thousands of posts on another OU board. He's always been a great poster in that he does not instigate trouble and is very knowledgeable about his Sooners - football and basketball. As for Kelvin Sampson, he and WTSooner would have to fight over being the former OU coach's #1 fan. Once Ooner has his opinion set, he's not going to change it regardless of the opposition. He will be pushing for Kelvin to come back to OU as a head coach as long as KS is above ground. Don't waste your time trying to argue with him whether that's a good idea or not
Kelvin Sampson was kind of like how Bob Huggins is now, in that his mere reputation and style of play made him hated by opposing coaches and fans. They knew they were going to get beat up for 40 minutes with really intense defense, usually great rebounding, etc. Very physical, very tough, and he recruited warriors.
Nobody wanted to play a Kelvin Sampson OU team, even when the talent level wasn't great.
Kelvin has done a good job at the U of H his first 2 years. Their roster was decimated last season when TaShawn Thomas and Danuel House transferred. They were the best 2 players.
Kelvin brought in some transfers and jucos this year and have surprised me with how competitive they are. They should be even better next year. If he could get 2-3 of the Houston area top 20 HS players every year, he would have a great team. The HS talent here is unreal.
Kelvin with a built-in recruiting advantage could field a formidable team. Of course, the same could be said about TCU in DFW........
I knew SMU was banned from the NCAA tournament but didn't realize that weren't playing in the conference tournament either. Makes sense. SMU and Louisville are 2 good teams left out of the dance this year.
