Kruger said the practices leading up to Saturday's game have been productive, with a clear focus on improving on the defensive end after Kansas carved up Oklahoma on that end Monday.
“We've got to work to get better defensively. We'll have stretches where we feel good about what we're doing, then we don't,” Kruger said. “That's always on me — improving our habits and improving our focus or whatever the case might be, not doing what we needed to do on the defensive end.”
It’s good to finally see a focus on defense! Wish it had come a lot sooner.
I think it's more than a bit late - but I do respect the fact that Lon likes to leave more on the players to getting thru their ills. However I think in this case he should have moved on the problem much quicker.
Let's hope we see a renewed group out there today with an extra skip in their step.
lol, no chit..just wow. Ah well...
BOOMER~
careful now. I am just trying to respect how our coach does things. No reason to be mean to me.
Odomes hasn't been playing good defense either. McGusty at least gives you another shooter/scorer so the opponents defense can't sag off of him. Odomes should be the sixth man that brings energy off the bench. Hustling, scrapping, pressuring full court, rebounding, etc.
The emphasis on defense should begin in the first preseason practice, not when the season is almost over.
