We may have to rethink our prediction abpit where KSU will finish in the Big 12 this season. Weber has 10 newcomers, 7 of them freshmen. But this bunch plays hard, they're aggressive on defense and they battle for every rebound and loose ball.

K-State and WVU are going into overtime. WVU may win, but even if they do their players will know they have been in a war in Manhattan.

Yeah I'm starting to think they may be the 6th place team this season. Losing Ridley was a huge blow for Texas, and I still don't trust Tubby Smith to win more than 6 or 7 conference games.

Good lord, the length of this replay review.

Painful, wasn't it? So was the indecision. The officials appeared to rule the shot attempt was not touched, only to reverse the decision later.

Double OT now, tied at 75 each.

Somehow, I think the refs got everything correct there, and WVU is probably going to escape.

Yes, difficult game to officiate with all the contact. I think the refs have done OK. Has gone about as I expected. I knew KSU would be a tough win in Manhattan.

I agree the officials did a good job except for the confusion they created on the play I referenced earlier. WVU wins the game 87-83 in double OT.

The main reason I started this thread was to point out that KSU may be better than most of us first thought. I know one thing, I do not look forward to playing them on their own floor.

Who won? I was on the phone w/ Apple (Don't ever bust your phone - setting up a replacement is painful!) and missed the end of the game.

I agree that they are a surprise from preseason expectations but less so now. They played NC close to the wire here in KC and they won at Georgia. They don't have a great offensive threat but they are not bad at any position. I could see them finishing anywhere from 5th to 8th.

I looked at all the B12 non-conference schedules the other day, and KSU and TT actually both have played a much tougher schedule than WVU and Baylor. Both teams have done a good job of recruiting a decent team after a lot of off-season defections. TT is 10-1 and KSU 10-2 in non-conference games with a competitive schedule.

I think some are underrating Tubby as a coach. He has an NCAA championship. This may surprise some younger posters, but Tubby had a chance to be the head coach at OU before Kelvin Sampson was offered. That's right. My sources told me he was offered and accepted the job but changed his mind later that day. He stayed at Tulsa another year before moving on to Georgia.

I looked for an old article and the only thing I found was this:

Tubby was almost the coach at OU

Good stuff, usedtobe1! Tubby was a hot commodity in those days. He had TU playing an exciting brand of basketball by getting more out of less than any coach around back then. I had no idea he was that close to coming in as Billy's replacement.

I heard his wife didn't want to move.
