Anyone else watching this? KU's clawing back into it with about five minutes left, but the thing that strikes me is that the officials seem to be calling the game by last season's rules. Score's in the 50s late in the game and there is tons of uncalled contact.

And boy, is the Atlantis arena small. I wonder how many it holds (I'd love to go see OU play there next year, but I doubt I can afford it).

experience just beat talented youth in that game. KU got their butts beat on the board.

That's not an arena. It's a hotel conference room with a basketball court and temporary stands installed.

Am I the only one doesn't think that KU is the best team in the Big 12 this year? I hate to say it, but the Pokes are going to embarrass the Jayhawks in Stillwater, and it wouldn't surprise me if OSU sweeps the series this season.

This is not the KU of old we're accustomed to every year. If Self can pull off a miracle, maybe they will be by season's end. They're definitely not that now. I can see a minimum of four losses in the Jayhawk's future; OSU, ISU and OU away, and at least one loss at home to OSU.

Every time I want to believe that KU is not as good as they usually sre early in the year, they end up winning the conference by a couple games. They shouldn't be as good as Ok State. And probably shouldn't be that much better than us or ISU. But Self is a heck of a coach.

I'm with you on that.

Osu very well could have lost to a team very similar to nova yesterday, too. Clearly osu and ku have the most talented teams in the conference, but so far iowa state has shown me more than ku and osu with their win over the NCAA runner-up, Michigan, and going to byu.

There is no way KU is going to get embarrassed in March. Self will have them playing very good ball by then.

They're young and they'll get better. Every team will lose, its not football and there are no 76 Hoosiers.

OSU draws KU towards the end of the season. OSU may improve some but not much. KU on the other hand has unlimited upside. Never sell Self short especially with the type of talent he has at KU this year.

I'm not going to overreact to how young teams like KU and Kentucky are playing in November. They will be completely different teams in March. I agree KU can't beat OSU right now.... at least they can't do it consistently.

Excellent point. I learned my lesson about that more than 10 years ago. I went to see OU-Alabama in Madison Square Garden back in November of 2002. The earlier game featured Syracuse vs. Memphis, a game won by the Tigers. Let's just say that was not the same Syracuse team I saw 4+ months later in Albany. :(

I went to the Final 4 in 2003, and Syracuse's 2-3 defense was awesome. They had so much length it just stifled the offenses. Of course having Carmelo his only year in D1 didn't hurt them but it was their defense that impressed me.

I wish OU's defense could improve half as much as Syracuse did that season. We sure have the quickness and hustle which is a good start.

KU can beat anyone right now. Lets not jump the gun on how well a young team does when playing 3 games in 3 days with no time to prepare. This team beat Duke who is better than the best team OSU has faced. Give Bill Self a day to prepare and they most likely would be undefeated right now.

OSU is solid but Bill Self will exploit OSU's weakness of not having any size. Their going to run the high-low all day on them.

I disagree. Ku could not beat Michigan state or Oklahoma state right now, IMO. They barely escaped Utep yesterday.

They beat Duke in their first game. Duke could win it all this year. KU will be inconsistent early on. Anyone counting them out is crazy at this point.

lol

Seriously?

Yes, I'm serious. Key words="right now".

Ku has looked sloppy in all their games thus far with the exception of duke, but I'm not sold on duke right now, either. Ku got schooled by nova and almost lost to utep. Wiggins is not nearly as polished as some would lead you to believe.

Way too early to tell but I agree that OSU looks like the conference favorite right now. KU is young and if losses can be a good thing (and I think they can be in bball) I suspect the Nova loss was a good loss for them.
