Lon and Austin BOTH expect Reaves to shoot better

He has to take better shots. Fran made a pretty good point during multiple broadcasts that he doesn't take a lot of high quality shots. A lot of his attempts are off-balance, not open, step-backs, etc. He isn't good enough for that. He shot better at WSU because he was a spot-up shooter.

If he takes higher quality shots, he will make a better percentage. If he turns into a jack machine, he will shoot a poor percentage.

You're right, last season he was trying to be Kobe when he's really probably closer to John Paxson.

It appears the statement that he was a catch and shoot guy when he shot well is very revealing. That makes OU's point guard even more critical. If Austin can shoot over 40% as a catch and shoot guy then we have to get him a lot more of those kind of shots rather than the one on one style in 19-20.

i said it all last season...I had a love/hate relationship with him (his play).

Hopefully more love this season...:ez-roll:

I'm fine with him shooting 28.6% from three as long as he scores 41 each night. Seems like a fair compromise.

He might not get enough catch and shoot opportunities next season to score at the level he might need to score for the team"s sake.
