If Lon can't make his teams show any more energy than this defensively then he needs to leave the game.

Attitude is a coaching issue and this team needs some attitude adjustment.

He gets paid way too much money to coach this poorly. We could pay a dozen guys 1/4 of what he gets and get more for our money.

Seat is hot.

Losing the assistants then tanking is a really bad look

Think it's just time for him to move on. We're going to miss the tournament 3 years in a row. OU is to good of a program for a coach to survive that, no matter what he's done in the past. Especially when there isn't talent in the recruiting pipeline to turn this thing around.

You can’t fire him on the basis that you think he’s going to miss the tourney next year

What’s the proposal, benching Trae. Everyone understands OU plays 4 on 5 defensively with Trae on the court. Not hard to see other guys not caring for having to cover Trae’s ass because he lets guys right by him.

Funny how when OU played with Trae on the bench and Shep in OU went on a 5-0 run and got several defensive stops in a row. It’s a lot easier to play defense 5 on 5. There’s still breakdowns, but as many with Trae out there.

Also, name some candidates that you’d replace Kruger with that’s get you to the tournament 4 out of 6 years and a final four run. I’d love to see a list of guys who could do that while making Kruger’s salary, let alone 1/4th

KU took out their point guard and best player when Trae went out. Since so many posters on here don't think Trae is any good that was a bad swap for OU. Shep wouldn't start at Tulsa.

Didn't say we should fire him. Said I think he should move on, to let the next coach get a jump start on turning this thing around. Because he is very likely to be fired after next season.

Funny how some see Shepherd as the answer to our problems, isn’t it? I must have missed those performances somehow. He’s not even the player he was as a freshman, and he is definitely not the answer to the void we’ll have at the point next season, assuming Trae doesn’t come back.

If our coaching staff fails to sign a graduate transfer PG who can run our offense, get ready for another disappointing season next year. If the current trend continues, my math tells me that will be three straight.

and that's part of the whole thing that troubles me. Why are our players not developing? Shepherd should be coming back next season as a salty veteran upperclassman. We're not getting that progression.

Why are our players not developing? You should look no further than the coaches with player development in their job description. It’s not Lon Kruger. His assistants work with the players in practice when they need help or they want to improve. We saw video proof the assistants on staff when Buddy and Isaiah were around spent time with them in the early morning hours and on weekends. Is this staff equally as dedicated? I would like to believe they are, but the evidence doesn’t confirm that to be true.

Shepherd is not the player he was last year. Khadeem hasn’t progressed all that much since he was a freshman. Freeman redshirted his first semester to work on his game. He’s barely seeing the floor in our rotation now. Polla, bless his heart, can’t make a layup from point blank range. I mean, how hard can it be when you’re 6’ 11”?

If I was Lon Kruger, I would be some kind of upset that the players on this team have continued to regress this late in the season!

Three simple words as to why our players are getting no better and this team has nose-dived. STEVE HENSON GONE.

They said Isaiah slept in Lloyd Noble when he was struggling. I doubt assistants stayed the night with him. While I agree we miss Hill & Henson, some blame has to go to the players.

yep. we dont have that kind of determination these days. I remember johnnie gilbert running so hard and giving it so much that his muscles were twitching such that he could barely move. thats the type of effort you want.

I like Henson and think he absolutely played a role in our success. But to listen to come of you, you'd think we lost Steve Kerr or Popp from the coaching staff. If he doesn't have a great agent, some of you should offer your services lol.

The results since he left speak for themselves.

Just because A happens before B, doesn't mean A causes B. Again, not saying it isn't one factor. I'd suggest losing two program changing players like Buddy and Isaiah was the biggest factor. I'd also ask ... was he on the coaching staff in the first couple months of the season, when we were number 4 and so many here were talking about this being the deepest roster since 1990?

This falls on Lon though. Whether it is lack of direction with the assistants, giving them too much reign, or just hiring the wrong guys, it is Lon's ulitimate responsibility. And if his assistants aren't up to par, he needs to be more hands on and take over their responsiblities. If he isn't willing to do that....bye
