Girls played hard and some most of the game. Rebounding and 3 point shooting have to improve to be successful this season. Seems Sherri does not trust any of the new ones except Carter. T.T. played when Jan told Sherri something about Morgan and Kellogg played when it seemed like there was no one else on the bench with size. Morgan and Vegas played almost all the game. Maybe someone with knowledge of their practices has Kellogg and Watt been that bad? It is a long season sure would hate to see an early burnout of key players. Great game we should have won in regulation, but hopefully they learned a valuable lesson of mental lapse as we had in OT.

I not worried about 3 point shooting especially with most of them rim out. Rebounding on the other hand is a different story that's is my biggest concerned if Sherri don't find a way the girls to rebounding better we might not win the big 12. Pat Summitt said it best offense sells tickets, defense wins games, rebounding wins championship.

Thank you ladies for a great afternoon of basketball, while you came up short it sure is going to be fun watching you young ladies this year.

Boomer Sooner!

Overall great early game and challenge for women's team.
Making that comeback in the second half showed real determination and heart
from the team.
This team has a really high ceiling and better speed, depth and athleticism at positions
1 thru 3 than in any recent year.

But the 4 guard lineup has issues against quality teams with bigger athletes,
rebounding and interior scoring are going to go against OU.
Unless OU is bombing from 3 which didn't happen today.
I'm just not sure it will work. Kornet is mis cast as a 4. She's an excellent 3.
My only real takeaway is that Sherri has got to think about getting Shaya Kellogg more
playing time and really work up Gibbs as well.
There's no substitute for athletic length in the men's or women's game.

Before the year, Sherri said she thought this would be a very good rebounding team. But, they looked good in practice when she taught them to block out. Didn't they? I think it takes some time to become a part of them. If one person doesn't, that's enough.

But, Louisville and Gonzaga are pretty good at rebounding themselves. We have to be focused. I'm not sure we were focused on blocking out tonight.

I made an off-season statement that I thought Durrett would be a starter at the 4. I was WRONG! She looked totally lost today. In 12 minutes at center, she had no rebounds. When she had the ball in her hands, she made terrible decisions. I think we have to have her in the role of third string center, but I hope we look in other directions at Power Forward (Kellogg).

I thought it interesting that we basically went for quickness rather than height, using Carter at the 3 and Sharane at the 4 for much of the time.

Also, the foul situations are making us use some odd combinations at times. I thought having both Griffin and Williams on the bench hurt us more than having Shimmel on the bench hurt them.

Well. Louisville has eight players who are pretty good, capable of being starters now. Eight are seniors, and three are juniors. When they go to the bench, they have a Gibbs to go to, a kid who was very, very good two years ago. She has done this in the past. They have Jude Schimmel. When we go to the bench, we drop off a lot in experience. They went to the title game with essentially this team.

After today, I'd consider Kellogg and Felisha.

I agree on Kellogg. Portia has no rebounds in two straight games. Kellogg is a better athlete and has more upside. When we lost our bigs in the first half we lost the game.

They also have to relax. They missed too many layups and too many open shots. They are rushing their shots. They may have been a little too impressed with Louisville's high ranking and high finish last year.

We have to develop more depth. In today's game it is really hard to go at full speed 35-40 minutes a game. They will take plays off or miss shots and not get rebounds because they are tired. And over a season it will wear them down.

Hopefully more players will earn Sherri's trust through some of the easier games we have left before the Big 12.

Portia's biggest problem on the team may be Colton Coale. He makes some comments on the broadcast that aren't all that friendly toward Portia's contribution or lack thereof. I wasn't clear on what he was referring to, today. I think it involved in Morgan fighting through a screen. He mentioned that it would have gone better if Portia had done her job to come help, but that it took Portia "five minutes" to get started. He's also mentioned a lack of blocking out and of post defense. Wonder if Sherri talks to him?

Colton is one of the male practice players that the team practices against so he's at practice all the time and probably makes those observations on his own.

I thought Shaya did very well in the time she was on the court. We have to remember this is Game #4 of a 30 plus game season. We just started the season playing 4 games against 4 NCAA tourney teams last year. This team is going to get better as the season goes along. Players, especially the younger ones, are also going to have ups and downs as the season progresses. Gioya had a 'statement' game IMO in her 4th collegiate game. She still wasn't perfect...lots of room for improvement. If Gioya hits both free throws in last minute instead of one, we win in regulation. Kaylon and Nicole K are sophomores! They will get better. Our free throw shooting was average in previous games but outstanding today. I think we're going to be OK!

I am just proud of our guys for hanging so well with a veteran top 5 team. Hopefully they will realize their accomplishment and learn from their mistakes.

Nicole G. was a total bust. Total. KayKay must learn to foul less because, at her best, NG isnt a good rebounder against even fair teams. Vegas had 12 rebounds and Nicole had, what, one? Passive, passive.
This team can be really good. Terrible shooting second half, no center and we still got to overtime. GREAT!!!

We do have some games coming up against less than stellar competition. It should provide some opportunities to see what some people who haven't seen much of the floor can do. Duke is about the only really tough team that we face prior to conference play. UCLA may be better than they have shown so far, and it is on the road. Not sure about Creighton.

Totally agree about having more opportunities for youngsters. We usually have the less than stellar competition at the very beginning of the season. Duke is better than Louisville, I think. UCLA will be the next test, winning on the road against a quality opponent. I think Creighton was NCAA team last year too. They are in same conference as Wichita State.

We played very well and were up big against the number 5 team in the country, then they got rolling and it became clear why they are a top 5 team… It takes a top 5 team to be down multiple times and then to find a way and win in a hostile environment. OU has great guards, but it’s a real droop off at the 4 and 5 position. Kay Kay is a beast, but Nicole is a bit soft. I thought Kornet would be very good for us at the 4 but even at 6’1 she’s still a wing guard and is at her best when used as such. Kornet doesn’t have the bulk or athleticism to be a 4, we need post help

Creighton changed conferences this year...they are now in the Big East which is primarily the Catholic 7 basketball schools, Georgetown, St Johns, Marquette, Depaul, etc. UConn and the football playing schools are in the American Athletic Conference. Louisville is in the AAC this year...next year in the ACC...it continues to evolve.

Oh yeah, I forgot that! Thanks! Didn't realize Creighton was a Catholic school.
