Marcus smart just hit a fan!

How do we know he said anything racist at all? We take the word of a player , full of frustration , who just assaulted a fan .
The guy may be the a grand wizard of the kkk, or he may have just called smarts mom a fat pig.sadly the race card is pulled so much anymore when faced with adversity , we take it as oath.

I've wondered if the fan called Smart a flopper and Smart thought he said something else???

Not trying to give the fan a pass...the Tech fans overall are a bunch of idiot fans and I've always thought that.

Britt Griner of the Hypocrite U women's basketball team only was suspended for one game after punching another player (Tech) in the face.

I also saw someone at an OU volleyball game a few years ago that was yelling "serve it at number ....!" (whatever # the opposing player was) had officials come over and tell them to stop yelling that at player. No names, nothing vulgar, just "serve it at number so and so!"

Could be. Tech fans are some of the scummiest there are! I have no doubt he said something way over the line but Smart still can't shove anyone.

The fan has been quoted has saying he said nothing vulgar and didn't use the N-word (but that he did cross a line). Assuming he did say that, I too wondered if maybe it wasn't a flopping reference that set Smart off. He's clearly been bothered by the attention he's received on that front.

I think the bigger punishment is forcing Smart to continue to play for this Cowboy squad, it's clear he doesn't enjoy it.

You suggested that Tech should take action against him for his speech. The Constitution does prohibit State action that restricts speech. This isn't a debate. As vile as it is, people have a right to be racist and express that belief.

Sure the man has the right to be racist, but he doesn't have the right to be at Texas tech basketball games. That is a privilege and he should have his tickets taken away or, at the minimum, be moved far away from the court.

The fan is an idiot. Other videos have surfaced of him harassing players. Is the Big XII the league where 50 something losers are allowed to sit baseline and take out their frustrations on kids?

The guy should lose his seats forever. The little shove was harmless. Anything more than a 1 game suspension is overkill & if the league stands up for Smart I have zero problem with it based on the fans history.

One he wasn't baseline. Two the videos that have surfaced show nothing vulgar or harassing

But tech as the right to not le him come to games. He agreed to that when he bought the tickets

Some people need to re-take 7th grade civics, this is not a free speech issue.

It will be interesting to see if it is ever unveiled what Orr truly said.

FWIW, there is a Fan Code of Conduct from the NCAA
http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/Fan+Code+of+Conduct.pdf

Someone posted earlier he claims to have said "Go back to Africa," or something along those lines. To me, that's not as offensive as the N word. He reportedly apologized for it later, but the damage as far as Smart is concerned was already done.

I agree with those who feel that the TT jerk should be banned to the upper deck or barred from attending games altogether for being part of the scene we saw last night. Free speech is one thing. Using it to make an ass of yourself by verbally abusing and harassing someone is another thing entirely. My guess is chubby boy would not do that to an adult sitting nearby. In watching his interview as an "honored Tech fan," he came across as a bit of a pansy who would be more likely to run than fight in a situation like that.

Having said that, I'll repeat what I've said from the beginning. No matter what the guy said, there is no justification whatsoever for a player going into the stands and shoving a fan. End of story. When the punishment is announced later today, I believe the Big 12 conference will agree with that assessment.

I have repeatedly said in this thread that Smart needs to be suspended by the Big 12/Okie State. I am not sure how anyone can disagree with this because it would set an awful precedent if he was not. As for how many games, I'm not sure. I could see a 1, 3, or 5 game suspension for Smart and I think an argument could be made for all three of those. Not sure I would agree with a suspension for the rest of the season as some have been saying, but if the Big 12 wanted to send a strong message that would certainly do it.

As for the fan, we obviously don't know what he said for sure, but he obviously said something inappropriate because it has been written that he has admitted to crossing the line. How far did he cross the line...only a couple of people truly know as of right now. But, if he did significantly cross the line, then he should also be punished IMO via the NCAA Fan Code of Conduct (and I'm going to guess from the Disclaimer on the back of the ticket he received from Tech). Depending on what he said, that punishment should be either moving to the upper deck of the arena away from the action to banning him from attending Tech games for a specific length of time. Buying a ticket doesn't give an individual carte blanche.

"Go back to Africa" is that white trash clowns way of saying black people don't belong in the USA. Ignorant white trash is the lowest form of scum on the planet and the US has way more than our share.

Stillwater has their share.

Stop trying to turn this thread into a race issue. If anyone on this board thinks it's okay to insult a person of color with words or in any other manner, they're in the minority by far. They're also wrong. So are you for continuing to push your liberal views on everyone.
