Marcus smart just hit a fan!

How many times did Jackie Robinson put hands on a fan in the stands...?

If you were an OSU fan, what action would you want taken against your best player in this circumstance?

If an OU player had lost his cool and made the “fan push” ... what action would you want OU to take?

The basketball PROGRAM and SCHOOL are bigger than any individual player. What action would be best for the program and the school?

A reprimand or one game suspension my not be the best decision for OSU, or for Marcus Smart.

Last night I said fire everybody and cut everybody except for Phil Forte

To be honest I wouldn't have a problem with the Big XII giving Smart a pass & focusing the blame on the fan. I enjoying "poking" fun at OSU as much as the next Sooner but the treatment of Smart recently has went too far. This flopping nonsense has become a national story & people keep piling on. He's just a kid and at a certain point anybody will snap. His treatment has crossed the line into bullying IMO. He needs a pat on the back. Imagine the additional pressure of the NBA draft on his mind with everybody ganging up on him. Not cool.

Wow, Dignon, that's harsh. Even a diehard OU fan like me wouldn't want to go that far. I think a multiple game suspension is in order. But anything more would penalize innocent players who still have to find a way to overcome this fiasco and do their best to represent OSU going forward.

Aside from Smart, Ford would be my biggest concern at this point. He didn't do a good job of handling the post-game interview when he said he didn't see what happened. I get that he needed an opportunity to review the game replay and investigate further before making a decision. But a "I didn't see it" answer was weak. What the heck was he doing when all of that took place, texting on his cell phone?

The problems Smart has created for OSU will be over after this season. But, IMO, you may have bigger fish to fry than Marcus.

He is not a kid anymore. He is an adult and responsible for his actions. As was I at his age and he should expect to pay the piper for making bad choices as I did. If he doesn't like the talk then walk a different walk. I will agree he needs a pat on the back but it needs to be on the way to a suspension. You think the NBA will just give him a pat on the back next year if he screws up again. Look at what give a " pat on the back" did for Stevie.

I think it was Rex Walters; when he was on the ground, a student got in his face.

Texas player went to save the ball and hit a pregnant OSU fan. A pushing match ensued. Why a pregnant lady was on the front row; I have no idea. How an OSU fan got pregnant; she must of had a nice wool coat.

It was Jerod Haase not Walters.

The fan is an idiot. Other videos have surfaced of him harassing players. Is the Big XII the league where 50 something losers are allowed to sit baseline and take out their frustrations on kids?

The guy should lose his seats forever. The little shove was harmless. Anything more than a 1 game suspension is overkill & if the league stands up for Smart I have zero problem with it based on the fans history.

He should have let it slide. But the fan can't act like he can do whatever he wants.

Actually in the United States you can say whatever you want. Those sick people in Kansas can go and protest outside the funerals of dead soldiers. The Supreme Court just ruled on this. The American Nazis can march in Skokie Illinois (a Jewish community). What you can't do is respond to speech with violence.

It doesn't matter what was aid to Marcus Smart, he was wrong and don't let anyone tell you differently. If the father of a deceased soldier can't hit that preacher form Kansas or the Jewish people can't beat the Nazis then Marcus Smart can't attack the fan.

He needs a pat on the back? I'm guessing someone has stolen your sarcasm emoticon?

Smart needs to be suspended for at least as long as Longar was. From what I've read today, the 'fan' has a reputation as a heckler. TT needs to, at a minimum, make the guy sit in the upper area of the arena. I have more confidence that Smart will be suspended than that TT will act against the fan because they are, after all, TT.

Smart is out of control and his tantrums are a sign of immaturity. If only he had a good coach who could teach him how to handle all of this. If only he had a coach who had the intelligence, integrity, and humility to teach him how to be a man. If only he had teammates who modeled mature behavior for him to follow. Ford is a punk himself and hes recruited a team full of punks. This is what you get.

The big12 and the NCAA must punish him severely. This cannot be tolerated at all.

I like Ford, I've met him twice and I like him. OSU basketball is at a major crossroad. If you fire someone, you damn sure better get someone better. Especially when that coach is only behind Sutton and Iba when it comes to winning.

The problem is if OSU loses Smart, Nash and Brown...and Ford and Pierre and guys get let out of their LOI's...jeez.

No way. You are suggesting banning a person from a State University for speech. Are you serious? That violates a fundamental principal of our society. YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY BE SERIOUS!

Using loopholes, legal technicalities, and the worst people on earth doesn't exactly help your argument. I think 99.99% of the population, the black letter of the law be damned, would agree that the soldier's dad would be morally, if not legally, justified to hit those freaks from Kansas or jewish people to hit the neo-nazis.

Again, the punishment should be determined by what was said. Any prosecutor or court of law would consider what was said in any potential assault case.

Actually in the United States you can say whatever you want.

And not be put in jail or be civilly liable for it. That's all the protection you get. Any & all types of other private retribution represent the free speech of those the person offended.

Most tickets have a disclaimer on the back about acting appropriately and it is the responsibility of the ticketholder to do so or privileges can be revoked. That is how security is able to kick attendees out of games. Fans believe they are free to say or do whatever without repercussion. It just isn't true. Does that justify Smart's actions? Absolutely not, and that is why he should be suspended.
