Before I indict Smart, I'm curious to what that man said. Not excusing what Smart did, but with all the absolute loathing people have of him around here, there is probably another side to the story. What if this man said something racist to Smart? That changes things an awful lot. Just something to ponder.

If he actually said something racist, I wish Smart decked him. If it was regular smack talk, then Smart way overreacted and should be punished heavily.

Not surprising. If you are an adult and are going to say something to a kid then you have likely done it before. I don't think anyone doubted he said something.

Ford pleaded ignorance throughout the postgame press conference, claiming to have no idea what happened and saying he would have to get more info.

Surely he had time to a) speak to Smart and b) see video of the incident before stepping out to answer reporters' questions.

THIS is what happens when you have a desperate university, with an inferiority complex that won't quit, who sells their soul to the devil (Booger Pickens) and allows this devil to run the WHOLE university. Holder does EVERYTHING Booger tells him, including extending this clown Ford's contract to 10 years when he's done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to deserve such extension other than he probably has the same smart a$$ attitude that Booger has and he loves it! So, they sign every player, regardless of off the field/court behavior, they can so they can win ASAP! Letting a booster run your university is ludicrous, he picked the president, he picked the AD and I'd make an educated guess that no one gets hired without his approval! That school is an embarrassment to the state!

I totally agree with this. Tech has an unbelievably trashy, ugly element to a portion of their fan base. I've been to multiple football games and a basketball game in Lubbock and experienced their garbage personally.

Having said that, I'm technically considered a minority (Jewish) and if someone made an anti-semitic remark to me when I was 20....I'm not sure I wouldn't try and deck someone. I'm older now, but I can understand, to a degree, how that would set someone off. Still, you have to understand that when you're a big time athlete....people are going to be ugly to you. You have to try your best and walk away.

If Longar got suspended for one game for an accidental elbow to the throat of a Tech player, Smart's behavior deserves at least the same.

Longar hit the guy in the face. The guy had to have surgery to repair his eye socket.

Although I do want to hear Marcus' side of things, I don't think it changes what happens to him or should it... As a leader and a young man in his position you have to be above all that. Think about all the names Jackie Robinson was called (not condoning racism that happened there); but the only reaction he gave was being motivated to play better. At the end of the day, we will never truly know what happened because it will be he said, she said stuff... All we will know is that Marcus Smart went banana's foster and shoved a fan. He should be suspended for at least a couple of games.

Fans should not have free reign to say whatever they want to players. Shouldn't be allowed to say anything you wouldn't say to their faces if you saw them on the street.
