MBB TPT2 TRANSFER PORTAL THREAD 2

Hopefully board followers really don't think PM and OU are going to pull a
top flight center or any other a rated position player out of the portal.
Couldn't do it last year when things didn't look as bleak as this coming season and players knowing the current coach could be axed after next season or even during the year.
Can our 2 returning Fr and the incoming FR lead us into the Dance? Chances are slim. Need miracles. Maybe Porter should call that sweet sister nun at Loyola and asked her to pray for us.

You mean like grant over Gonzaga? Top 10 pg…

The two targets I want most are still

Collins and Denver Jones

Although we need another PG as well.

From SoonerJones over on the Rivals site:

The Kentucky radio guys say that Wheeler has likely had a landing spot picked out since January and that Collins was looking at the same place. From their interest and hinting I would say Texas or ku. They said it “wouldnt be random” if it happened. Paired with the Athletic Kentucky reporter saying Wheeler would be in the big 12 soon.

It’s early. Unless you have a personal connection or hometown.

Kids gonna take visits. Look around.

What’s the rush?

What's the rush? I mean, a lot of players have already committed. I would prefer to get one of these guys at this point, but I have zero faith and optimism in Moser. So since I expect the worst, I can't be disappointed. #positivity.

Hell nah. I’d guess kstate over those 2. KState amd Arkansas are the two biggest portal players in this area.

As strong a statement as that random poster on another site made regarding who had to be Collins being a done deal to OU, what a slap in the face it would be to not end up with him.

I never thought he would move the needle much at OU, but at least you knew he'd add a few elements to our roster that we didn't have before. Be interesting to see who we can get our hands on at the 5 spot if not him.

Tough to say. KU will also be hitting the portal hard because they lose three starters, and have had four or five guys enter the portal, so they have several spots to fill even after you account for their incoming freshmen.

If kansas, ksu, texas, arky are going after the same players OU is going after, I wouldn’t bet on Moser.

I’m resigned to finishing last again next season and Moser getting fired. I just hope Joe C hires the right guy next time.

Your crazy if you think for some unknown reason that ku and ut arent thing to be going hard in the portal..

Every professional basketball team works extremely hard to land the best possible free agents. Oh wait, I mean all the best college programs work hard to get transfers.

When you battle those teams, it is more about money than anything else (maybe not KSU but Tang comes from a bagman program in baylor). We are going to find out if we have gotten more competitive in NIL in the next month.

Those guys are better recruiters too, but yes, it’s not all Mosers fault. We are hamstrung by our lack of NIL support as well.

I am deeply concerned about the future of OU basketball and that is independent of who the coach currently is or who will be the coach in the future. When Miami can buy a final four team and OU is shopping the discounts on the great value aisle, it’s not going to end well for OU. Not enough people care about OU basketball. Not enough wealthy donors care.

"Not enough people care about OU basketball. Not enough wealthy donors care."

So "college sports" is now "wealthy donors sports?" and OU players are now "discounts from the great value aisle?"

What a loss.

We should still be able to field a good program. What recruits did FAU buy this year? How about Creighton, St Mary's, and SDS, three top 15 teams on Ken Pom?

Good coaches will still find a way to get good players into the program, develop them, and put them in a position to win. OU football wants to call itself a development program too. If we can't buy the very best recruits, BV and his staff better be able to find and develop kids. He (they) did that pretty well at Clemson, so hopefully its something he can do at OU as well.
