"This year's Final Four will be the first with no McDonald All-Americans since 1979"

That’s a good reminder that our two incoming freshmen won’t be enough to gain ground in the conference. Absolutely must hit big in the portal or last place is likely again.

Lol. Kooper had a shot if he wouldnt of been prep school. They aren’t allowed.

I struggle to find the logic in this. Especially with the teams in the Final Four NOT having McDs AAs.

So you DON’T think having the highest quality players is an important factor in assessing a team’s likelihood of winning? This year is a massive outlier. Teams that win at a high level in elite conferences have pros and other high level players. More to the point, we have seen a lot of people post that one reason they are confident that we will be better next year is that we have a couple good players coming in. But we are starting from well behind our conference opponents, and with many of them brining in guys who are as good or better than our freshmen, it stands to reason that we won’t make up much, if any, ground based solely on Cooper and Cole. Obviously recruiting rankings aren’t foolproof, but I’d rather be one of the teams with a McDonald’s AA than not.

Cooper is the same level of prospect as most of the guys in that game ..

clearly not the top of the top

Cooper is a better athlete then lots of the guys in that game ..

It's the same reason some OU fans keep making the excuse about how hard/difficult the Big 12 has gotten because of other teams' improvement, but they never can answer why OU ALSO wasn't able to improve our team over that same time frame.

We all like our two 2023 HS recruits, but that class currently ranks 7th in the Big 12, and also behind two of the four incoming teams (UH and Cincy).

So yeah, we need to do more.

Here is where you are wrong. 5th overall if you go by avg. if we take 4 like others then we are higher on the total.

Small class for us.

Baylor KU Texas cincy ahead of us. Ou 5th and the others fall behind us on 24/7.

If youre gonna use stats. Use them correctly. 5 man class vs 2 class... of course total points will be higher.
I only checked 24/7 so if you used someone other. Let me know and ill gather that info.

I don't think there is anybody predicting we'll make a massive leap next year based on our true freshman alone. You're misrepresenting what people have said (again). If we ran it back with a similar roster, hopefully Cooper is a good contributor, but most of the expected improvement would be from guys like Uzan and Oweh.

You didn't say anything here I wasn't already aware of.

Total class matters because total talent on a roster matters. You guys keep talking about increasing the talent for the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th scholarships, well, that is hard to do with a two man class. A two man class that is that size largely because OU and PM missed on a number of targets. They wanted a larger class. They couldn't land a larger class. Again, that matters. So instead of signing quality HS player (like our league competitors are doing on paper), we'll go back to the Portal which has been hit or miss for PM.

I'm perfectly fine waiting on the transfer season to end and factoring those guys into recruiting classes. But I suspect OU will still be lagging behind a number of conference mates.

And back to your point about big class vs average, some of those that are above us because of numbers, their average for their top two players isn't much off from ours. So yeah, slightly behind us, then they have two more players than we do that have a chance to be good or contributors. Again, that matters.

You clearly weren't aware or you just trying to slide through with half truths?

This isn't true. We had no Ships open until the transfers. Godwin was getting one no matter what.

You cant sign kids with no open ships available.

So you're moving the goal post.. Is it this 2023 class we are talking about or total class on the roster? Pick one and stay there.
4 Top teams are slightly ahead of us as well. works both ways.

We ALL knew we were losing a few folks to transfer, whether by choice or by being told.

Did you really just say OU couldn't sign kids who wouldn't be on scholarship until after this semester, b/c as of this moment we were full? That isn't how scholarships work. We could have signed another kid or two, and cleared those scholarships after the semester ends. That happens all the time.

No one was told to leave. All by choice.

I shouldve said. Porter wasnt going to over sign. you are correct though.

I don’t think he is on the hot seat whatsoever. Joe C and the admin are well aware of what Kruger and now Moser are up against rn.

Plenty of posts have pointed specifically, and in some cases, exclusively, to his high school recruits as the reason to be optimistic that Moser can succeed if given more time. So it’s absolutely fair to point out that while our class may be good, it’s not likely to help us make up much ground.

Because Magic Johnson and Larry Bird weren’t all that good, I guess?

Idk man. If we miss the tournament again next year, id have to imagine his odds of staying on are somewhere less than 50/50.
