Was an assistant at Missouri Women, now goes to Washington to be an ast for Romar.

Wonder where Porter is going to??

Very seriously doubt Young goes to Washington

Makes me feel that much better about our chances with Young. Romar is Porter's godfather and his younger brother is committed there too...

That's ridiculous. College basketball recruiting is so seedy.

I know it's been that way. And it never ceases to disgust me. So what usually happens? Does the dad get dumped after 2,3,4 years? I never keep track.

I remember Mike Mims as an assistant to Billy Tubbs, right? Did he have a son that played at OU, that was good? I don't recall.

Uh, does the name Mike Mims ring a bell?

It does but he was just Wayman's basketball coach, not his father.

BTW, his dad urged him to go to OU anyway. He said something like "...think how neat it would be to go somewhere and help build something...". I read that in a magazine interview with Wayman years back.

You're splitting hairs. Bully wanted Waynan bad enough to both offer his older brother a scholarship and his high school coach an assistant's job. Was there anything unethical about that? No, but u can't have it both ways. You can't say there is nothing wrong with it while saying it's unethical when other coaches make similar arrangements to secure a recruit's sig.

The Big XII is the hoops conference it is because of two players - Wayman Tisdale and Danny Manning - and Manning arrived at Kansas in similar fashion...they call that "a distinction without a difference".
