More from TMZ on Tiny Gallon

This kat is in over his head. He's way too flippant in his connections with college athletes. He's careless. He's trying to be the cool guy. And it's going to cost both he and some college athletes dearly.

I don't think he's a slimeball. I think he's a little dooshy and trying to impress.

what the holy hell is going on with this program right now

There is a huge flushing sound coming from Norman right now and 11 other BigXII teams are laughing their collective butts off at it. OU will be no threat to anyone for the foreseeable future.

If this is all true, and he was at the games with money exchanged OU could see the "Lack of institutional control" considering Sampson's issues and Blomar Gate. This could get ugly quick.

Its not illegal to talk to them. If theres no money involved then there is no violation.

Well, this is the first time I am predicting this with any conviction - Jeff Capel won't be head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners next year.

Too early to call at this point imo. But this is the first time that I actually feel like it could be a possibility.

lol.

Based on what?

Players running the asylum.
Defections.
Pathetic performance on the floor.
Theft.
Possible money exchanging hands.
Possibly an agent at the game with two players involved.

ALL of this comes back to Coach since he recruited him. Although not always fair, it is his decision to award these players scholarships and thus they and their actions are his responsibility.

This is my sense as well. He really seems to be trying to punch above his weight, and failing. That he was so brazen going about this really betrays a naivete more associated with jersey chasers than with simple scumbags.

Still, all in all, it's looking like a very bad day for our basketball program.

This. And it makes me really sad.

+1

I like Capel a lot and everything I've seen or heard from him speaks to him being a very classy, very upstanding guy and I would hate to lose him, but we just cannot have things like this going on in our program.

the responsibility of all the crap falls on Capel... we ll find out what the end result of all of this is soon enough.

It seems that the dude's Twitter account no longer exists. This is not good at all.

Look, I'm not saying everything is sunshine and rainbows, but there are probably agents at every Kentucky or Kansas game, that's not on the coach. The money appears to have been exchanged through an advisor not related to OU and an account held jointly by Tiny and his mother...how is Capel supposed to know about that?

Like I said, there appear to be some problems with Capel's character evaluation, but saying he won't be the coach at OU next year (as the poster stated) is a knee jerk reaction. If he did know about the money and any other activity deemed illegal by the NCAA and OU, then yes, Jeff has got to go.

Agreed. No argument here.
I think it's natural for people (me included) to have quick reactions when it seems something new, and negative, comes out each day about the program.

In a way to me this has Boo Blake written all over it. Different circumstances, but like the football program our hoops seem to be collapsing before our eyes possibly because a coach is in over his head...again. And what worries me is that the OU football program could instantly rebound with a good hire simply because it was OU. The hoops program does not have that reputation nation wide. It could take quite some time to rebound from this mess.

I really do believe that a lot of this blame needs to be shouldered by Joe Castiglione and the Athletic Department as well. Joe C wants a winning program, but he would prefer a winning program which makes money, i.e. sell tickets. Castiglione thought he could get his second highest grossing sport to increase its revenue by bringing in a young, hip, African-American coach to relate to high profile recruits...and he did relate, and has worked to various extents. Problem is, there are side effects of this approach if not done correctly. It's a great idea if the whole thing works, because you have to believe Jeff has been lead to the notion that he needs to recruit high profile players, something the fans and the administration felt was lacking perviously.

After this whole debacle blows over, I really do think you're going to see a different scheme employed when it comes to evaluating talent, Capel has already mentioned this in his interview last week. Now whether Capel gets one or two years to prove this will largely depend on the product on the floor.

Let me get one thing clear - I love Capel. I was very much behind his hiring. I was behind him after season one. I am behind him today. And if he's coach next year, I will be behind him then.

This iceberg looks bigger, and bigger, and bigger the closer we get to it. Bad seasons, players who quit, stupid kid stuff is one thing. Not controlling your players and agents getting involved and money changing hands is entirely another, especially when the program is under the microscope as is.

BTW, Manny, if the kid who plays you does not win a Best Supporting Actor Emmy next year, there is simply no justice in the world.
