Hope Lon can work his transfer magic and can find a 5th year transfer or a JUCO big. Some may disagree but that's the missing piece IMO to make a deep run next year.

I agree. I really don't like OU having to rely so much on incoming freshman in that spot. If not probably at least another season away from making it past the first weekend.

+1

the cat from Temple would make us a contender, IMO.

I disagree. The bigs coming in will be fine. Of course it's easy to say let's add an impact player... It's not that simple.

Gray from SDSU who is playing right now against the team we lost to says hi.

It really doesn't have to be a big scorer but rather a guy who can bang and defend in the post (better than Bennett) and a guy that has some semblance of a back to the basket game. A guy who can body big men...

If these guys were walking around begging to come to OU don't you think we'd take one?
You guys act like everyone we offer just says yes and commits.

I don't disagree that we could use one of these guys you speak of... Just not easy to find

I would bet that there is a big from a school like Rice (Kazmeni?) or Tulane (Gray) that is a 5th year that would want to come to OU and have chance to be a key cog for a Big 12 contender.

So you think our coaches are sitting on a beach drinking fruity drinks? They KNOW Spangler needs help!

We will have the bodies next year. I'm more interested in getting Spangler some back to basket game.

I think they will have Spangler work more on a face up game so they can still spread the floor.

If we got one of these transfer bigs. I think it would benefit us greatly if we started the transfer at the 5. Put Buford at the 4 and keep our starting guards. Moving Spangler to the bench with an emerging booker and hornbeak. Also a few solid minutes from Lattin while mcnease redshirts solidifies us a top 3 big 12 team next year with a great chance for a deep run. That's my dream scenario.:woot

Spangler to the bench? This thread has gone off the rails. Jeez...

Yep. He isn't big enough to have much of a back to the basket game. But they can get him hitting that 15 footer like Osby did.

What's wrong with having a strong bench? Some were worried when they moved hornbeak to the bench and had cousins starting. It would help our bench tremendously. Having a 7 foot center and a 6'9 athletic stretch 4 helps us GREATLY defensively and will probably help us in the paint.

No way we add any bigs better than Spangler over the next 2 seasons. No way. He'll be an all conference candidate next season.

Size certainly helps but there is no reason to think he couldn't develop a few solid moves in the post. Spangler has the strength to finish inside he just needs to play with more confidence/aggression.

All 7 foot centers are better options at center than Spangler. And I think it would hurt us offensively if we paired him with the big at power forward. So just move Buford there whose already taller and athletic. He's also better offensively. And move Spangler to the bench and strengthen it. We're a top 10 team in this scenario

What 7 footer who can actually play are we adding? I don't believe the coaches are looking for bigs right now. All the guys I've we are in on are combo forwards or wing forwards.

Buford is only 6'7...

Well, I'm not so sure about that. I would bet about anything that Kruger won't spend two more years being undersized in the paint. I wouldn't want him to and I doubt that you would either.

Spangler's future is developing a face up game and expanding his skills in a lot of areas. He might just be able to do that. Even if he does, there will be a lot of completion for playing time at the #4 next season and beyond.

Tell me who. I would love this but who will it be. I doubt it will be any of the FR and we will need guards the year after. I don't want Spangler at the 5. I think his development tracks along Roe's and he becomes a 4. I see no way we find anyone good enough to move him to the bench.
