New ARENA as part of entertainment District

The points matter, but not as much as level...all the OU/Texas and road game assignments are based on donation level first, then points within that level. You'd be better off donating $7500 in just ticket donations because you'd be Bud Wilkinson level, as opposed to $5,000 in ticket donations and $2,000 non-ticket because you'd be in Gold level -- even if you'd technically get more points doing it the latter way.

The basketball meal area was getting way too crowded before -- they were putting up tents on the patios with propane heaters and even then it could be tough to get a seat. Although, I do think it is a good way to get people to attend as people rich and poor hate to pass up on a free meal. Maybe the new arena will have more space to accommodate a bigger crowd.

i agree with that on the meal area ... but i also think they should have also attached it to the most expensive seats in the building .

Ironically, you basically have to be a football season ticketholder to get basketball tailgate access.
now that is for sure true ..

you can be courtside on bball (1000 a ticket or 1500 a ticket so between 4k and 6k a season) and if that is your only sport you don't quality for the pregame .. (a real Joe C special way to take care of your bball fans .. ) ..

You’re happy getting a mid major arena that is too small, even for OU bball crowds?
Yes.

New Arena = happy.

Hell, I love small crowded arenas, some of the best environments are built on it.

LNC is a trash can, I have been saying that for the last 20+ years since ebeing a student.

i'm happy to watch a good sooner team anywhere.
the LNC is not perfect but it was amazing watching wayman there when i was a student.

That is off campus. And shared. The team will still practice at LNC and the practice gyms there, which means the new arena isn't going to be where they get most of their shots up at. I've never liked that set up. I've never liked asking the team to "pack up" to get the gym. Same with the students. No way this helps student attendance.

that is how every single pro team works .. that don't practice or get their shots up at the arena ..

and again basically all students currently drive to the arena ..

I understand. I’m just really pissed off at Joe and admin for painting us into this corner.
100% agree with this. Not only with the arena, but also with the way he mishandled the entire basketball program.

And when it comes to facilities, he's doing the same thing: screwing up the football renovations, wouldn't have gotten softball done without the Love family, and would have never addressed upgrading LDM if the threat of Skip walking to A&M hadn't been there. Probably would have screwed up the SEC move if it wasn't for Joe H and Del Conte. Oh, but he's the GOAT because he's good at penny pinching/managing the account ledger and is liked by other ADs and TV guys.

All I know is that I was excited about the new arena and its possibilities when I completed the survey that was sent out. It looked very promising, like an arena for the future.

All we got was something for a G5 conference with restaurants and retail nearby. Yeah, better than nothing, but far from what we need and deserve.

Thanks Joe C, your legacy is being defined.
