New to the Board, re: thebigabd

Thank you for the kind words. I just post what I see. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad. Lately its been bad, but take a close (or not so close) look and its not hard to see how one came to that conclusion.

I always back up what I am saying with stats, facts, quotes, or some kind of direct observation. You would think that would be good enough. The funny ones are people thinking I have an agenda (what kind of agendas can internet sports posters have? haha) or that I am a fan of another school disguised as an OU fan (who does that?).

What kind of agendas can internet sports posters have? Lots. Most people have an agenda to be right on here. Many (myself included) have an agenda to support the program and get folks to go the basketball games and to show recruits that there are indeed passionate fans that support OU basketball. I certainly have an agenda.

As for your second point, I would have scoffed at this at one time, but honestly, I don't know who you cheer for these days. You like the underdog and you like being right. Your posting history ever since you stepped down from being a mod shows this as being true.

I enjoy your threads. I think you do some admirable research. But what I don't understand is why you can't remain objective and yet support the program and encourage others to do so....

I guess I just wish you liked OU more than being right on the board. I used to think you did, but then again, we were the underdog on the OUI board (people bashed Sampson, Longar was called soft, etc...).

I don't always agree with abd. Sometimes, it seems that I rarely do. But, I do appreciate his input, and there is at least an element of truth in everything that he says. I tend to look at all posts with interest, and it helps if there is some evidence to support a conclusion. Good posters have some perspective, as does abd. It may not always be the right perspective, but I don't even agree with myself at times.

I do NOT approve of posters who tend to belittle other posters, and this has been a bit of a problem with respect to those who have attacked abd. He (she?) is entitled to an opinion, especially if supported. If you ridicule the poster or belittle the poster, I will tend to ignore your posts from that day forward, regardless of your opinion or whether I agree with it.

Incidentally, my pet peeve isn't the person who expresses a positive or negative opinion to an extreme, but the person who sees a new player that OU has and makes the statement that "X is the best at Y that we have ever had." When I see such posts, I wonder if the poster remembers any of the great athletes in OU's history. It tends to insult them.

The people who whine constantly about BigABD are far more annoying than Big himself. Why would he need attention? He's a poster of long-standing on these boards. He's known among OU fans and has earned the respect of many, if not most, of us.

It's real easy not to click on his threads, you know. But then, what would you have to complain about?

I have no problem whatsoever with BigABD, but I have a big problem with his incessant detractors and their tedious pilings-on.

Alright guys and gals, I thought I'd at least give this one a day before I locked it in order for both sides to get their opinions in but I think this thread has served its purpose.

thebigabd is not breaking any board rules and has been nothing but cooperative with myself and the staff. As ada mentioned, he is one of the best (if not the best) thread starters on this board.
