Next head coach Porter Moser

Kruger did his job to clean things up and start getting some decent talent here. Because of him OU got Buddy and Trae who are far better pro players than we've ever seen from OU at the guard position even in the Billy Ball days. So he'll have that. Hopefully with the program in way better standing than when Kruger got here we can see similar top level success to what we had with Kelvin and Billy regularly and be competing towards the top in a few years. Not sure I expect it right away because we lose a lot of leadership right now.

I don’t know how you can think that Buddy is a better NBA player than Mookie.

splitting hairs...Mookie was a point, Buddy is not. Both are very good but yes Mookie had the better pro career so far but Buddy gets better every year.

Are there still people here that actually believe Kruger is the same caliber coach that Sampson is? It's senseless.

I give the slight edge to Sampson. Loved Sampson at ou. Have rooted for him everywhere unless they play ou. Having said that, it seems like a segment of this board likes kelvin more than the ou hoops program itself. Their negativity about the program sans kelvin is over the top. Lon did a damn good job, 1 of the top 3 coaches all time in this program. Now we just landed one of the hottest coaches on the market that looks to be cut from similar cloth to Kelvin and Lon. More good times ahead, Sooners!

Agree.

It's time to look forward, instead of back and hope Moser is as good as we think he is. If so, good days are ahead for OU basketball.

Mookie had a defensive tenacity you rarely see in players. He scored a lot of points from outside, but Buddy's shot was more athletic in appearance. While Mookie settled for more set shots, as opposed to a true jump shot, which Buddy utilizes.

Buddy is going to have around 6000 points 5 years into his career. If he just has a few years like he has had the last couple he'll easily be at 10k points in a little over 3 years.

Blake could be the all time NBA scoring leader in OU history as early as this year. He needs around 140 points to pass Adams. Depends on how many games he misses or doesn't contribute much in down the stretch. But he's averaging like 8-9 per game with the Nets.

I'm not sure I'd say he did a damn good job. He did a good job. Especially in his early years. Finishing in the back end of the conference as many times as he did doesn't earn a damn good job imo. I know some disagree but that is fine. I appreciate Lon...I'm just not the biggest fan.

Any coach to gets you to a Final Four and recruits a player of the year did a damn good job.

This thread makes me sad. Hey, guys! We got a new coach. A damn good one! And hired some new assistants. Now there's a million recruiting questions to discuss. Can we move on from this?

You are more than welcome to. Some like to discuss topics like this. It doesn't hurt anything. It seems like a healthy discussion.

Buddy is having a so so year. Peaked last year.

He looks like a guy that could have his best year if they would trade him. Looks burned out on that organization, which is understandable. Warriors should have traded for him instead of Oubre.

I don't agree with that. For that year, yes it was a damn good year. But one year does not a damn good job make

Can say the same for kelvin basically. Had a bunch of ~20 win seasons and 1st round exits in the big dance except for 3 years (F4, E8, S16). Lon had 2 years where he made the sweet 16 or better (F4, S16). Lon had a winning record in the big dance. Kelvin did not have a winning record, and he routinely lost to worse seeds. Lon did better out of conference and kelvin did better in conference. Lon was putrid in the conference tourney while kelvin’s results were elite. That’s why I give kelvin the edge overall but it’s a lot closer than some folks realize. Hopefully Moser is better than both.
