Next year's starting line up

Comparing Buford to Osby seems like nothing more than wishful thinking. I've seen some star potential from guys like James, and I haven't seen enough of Odomes, but I just don't see Buford as being much more than average (despite his recruiting rankings). I'd love to be wrong, though.

McGusty - 165lbs
James - 205lbs

That is why I list James as the 3, and McGusty as the 2. It's not just about height.

James is nearly identical in size to Buddy, who has been our 3 for a few years now. And James is a pretty good rebounder (for a guard), like Buddy is.

If McGusty is 6'5, he at least weighs 180.

They are about the same height. They both can shoot it from long range. Both are very athletic.

I don't see why the comparison is that far off. I do think Osby was better at the same age though.

Do you guys think Kruger would ever run 9-10 guys and press more like WV? Try to use our numbers and speed up the game.

I think Kruger likes free flowing offense and running too much to devote to that type of defense

McNeace, if he stays 4 years, has a chance to be pretty darn good before he leaves Norman. He was much better yesterday than the first game he played in early February. He doesn't have the same soft shooting touch as did Stacey King, but he's much more active and seems to be a better athlete. He's going to be better than Jabhari Brown before he leaves. I'm very excited about him.

McNease has the potential to be good based on his jumping ability and coordination. Aside from that he's a long ways from Stacey King. He's not as good an athlete nor has anything close to Stacey's basketball skills. I remember Stacey playing pick-up games against other members of the team and occasional football players at Houston Huffman and he looked like Lamar Odom, leads the fact break, cross over, behind the back dribbles at high speed and this was when he was a sophomore, not even starting. Stacey was a skilled player with a variety of shots and moves which told you he had been playing organized ball for many years.

McNease, because he seems very coordinated (runs well, seems to have good balance) has a chance to be very good. I don't know if he'll ever acquire Stacey King type skills but he still can be a very effective basketball player.

Didn't Osby play with his back to the basket?

Maybe Kruger has faith in Bola being the 3rd PG.

Bola is not a bad player and could play some minutes if necessary because of his defense. He's pretty quick ... but doesn't have the handles to be a PG.

Would not surprised if that was 212-215 at the start of next season. he will get a full off season work out program this year. Not sure how much of one he got last year after the leg injury

According to the official OU roster, Christian James is already up to 218 pounds.

He plays strong for a freshman guard.

No. Bola is a walk on for a reason.. just because he is not a white boy doesn't mean he is any better than any traditional walk on. Austin Mankin is/was far more talented. Bola will never play significant minutes

I see Buford at the 4. I see him being like Osby. I think he's further along then Osby was but Osby redshirted as a junior and Buford redshirted as a freshman.

He needs to get stronger with the ball when he goes up for dunks. I think that will come. He was voted best dunker or athlete or something like that so he plays bigger than he is.

That are massive differences between Dante and Ro and there is little chance, IMHO, that Buford will be an effective power forward. He needs to gear his game into being a 3, improve his handles and jump shot.

Osby was 6'8 230 and Buford is about 6'6 205. But the main difference is hand size and grip strength. Osby had big hands, good rebounding technique and a good crossover when needed. Buford will improve and will, hopefully, prove me wrong but for now I'm betting on Dante being a 3.

Are you comparing him to Miss St. Osby or redshirt junior Osby b/c Buford has 2 years before he's a junior.
