Not a good sign for things to come

It's an either/or situation. Sure, we could replace Cousins and M'Baye with Grooms and Fitz, and our offense might improve some. But our defense will probably fall off as well.

I like that we're playing better defense, but I also wish the offense looked a little better.

Grooms is not a defensive liability. Fitzgerald is.

Gooms is a pretty good defender. And better than pretty good on ball defender. But, he isn't any good at closing out on a 3 pt shooter. As a team, that hurt us all seasons long last year.

Right now, Cousins and Hornbeak are more effective all around defenders than Grooms. They won't do anything but get better.

so you want to ignore last year where he shot like 73% from the line and 47% from the field? His minutes were cut down by 10 minutes and he isn't starting. He hasn't been able to get in a rhythm

I tend to live in the present. He is a Senior he should be able to adjust.

Live in the present all you want. I have three years showing that fitz is better than his stats show this year. Maybe he should be able to adjust but fact is he isn't. I would feel better having Fitz out there than Mbaye

Grooms is not a defensive liability.

He may not be a liability, but he doesn't offer the length and ball-hawking that Cousins does.

I think LK knows that we have some average at best defenders that need to start. The best way to compensate for that, defensively, is to get after the pg and try to take the other team out of their offense that way. In part, I think that is why we've seen improved team defense.

The biggest problems with our offense is no point guard play and M'Baye just has no offensive game. I like how our young guards play. They aren't even that bad on offense. They just aren't consistent which is what you expect from freshmen. M'Baye for all the hype he's had the last couple years has been a massive disappointment and just hasn't been any good. Maybe that's a little harsh. He's been good on defense I guess. But we needed him to be an impact player on offense and I don't see how his game is different from Cam Clark's offensively.

What's frustrating is M'baye has the tools to dominate many teams. He just doesn't

Yeah Fitz is shooting .400 from the field and most are inside shots and it gets worse from the line .430. Someone wanted him in the starting lineup??

Fitz's numbers aren't what they could be because he often chooses the midrange J (or the hook or something) over going strong to the basket. He has done it throughout his years here. It's not that he's horrible at the jumper or refuses to go to the hole; it's not that extreme. But for his size, he takes lower percentage shots than he could and our team (as well as his FG percentage) suffers for it.

Disclaimer, I know nothing :vitale

I've not given up on M'Baye yet but he's running out of time to shake the rust off or whatever it is he needs to do.

1-3 point wins against NWSU, ORU, UT-Arlington, etc arent anything to write home about. This team has sucked all year, they have just eeked out some wins against other teams that also suck.
