Good for him, very underrated player for his time at OU.

Thanks for the post, Sky!

Good for Rashard! Gotta be happy for a young man who put team above self while he was at OU. So glad he got this opportunity to earn some money!

Explain to me in simple terms how to post pics or tweets like this! Please

I did a screen capture on my phone, resized it (the screen capture would have been way too high a resolution) and then uploaded it as an image.

Don't think im in the same galaxy as you are on your take, id say Austin Johnson is mine.. but congrats to Odomes. What an adventure

Dude always played hard and seemed like a great teammate and good kid but I don't know how someone who averaged 7 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist per game for his career could be underrated much.

Yea the problem with Odomes is he didn't develop a lot. The severe limitations in his game stayed with him through his entire career.... 10/7/7 in ppg in his last 3 years. The year he averaged 10ppg, he was 11% from 3 and 62% from the foul line.

Of course, there were little fluctuations in his stats, but mostly based on his role on the team for that particular year not because of development.

Good for him. Getting paid to play basketball in Sweden is a hell of a lot better than having to get a real job. Being in Sweden, it’s a short, affordable trip to mainland Europe. That’s a great experience for a young man. Hell, for any man!

Oh heck yea... he is going to live pretty well out there. Good for him.

I remember hearing Aaron McGhee was making $700,000 a year or something like that to play in Spain.. Not sure what level of basketball this is that Odomes is playing, but you can make a very nice living playing basketball overseas.

Didn’t say he was the most underrated, just underrated. He was a very good defender, unselfish, & made winning plays that don’t show up on the stat sheet.

Because offensive stats aren't the only way to provide value to a team. Playing hard, being a good teammate, and playing very good defense are all important, and he provided those things for four years. Our fans have complained about us being a bad defensive team, but never seemed to fully credit RO for his D. Instead, the focus was always on what he didn't do well. I think that's how he ended up underrated.

Great for him!
I have no idea what he is making but it won't be anywhere near 700K. It will be more fun than a real job though and what a great experience for a young man to see the world.

Odomes is one of the more perplexing players I remember. As a freshman, it looked like he would be a star.

But he never progressed. And yet, he had stretches where he would absolutely dominate a game. And usually it seemed to be against good teams.

Against osu he was unstoppable? I think he scored 29.
Sadly, we lost.

I think he was rated about where he should be. Just a solid player. Nothing more, nothing less.
I always thought he had the potential to do more.

Maybe that was because he did a lot more in high school:

HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove, Texas … Finished career as his high school’s all-time leading scorer … A four-star recruit by ESPN … Ranked as the 14th top recruit in Texas by 247Sports … Scored a game-high 37 points and pulled down 11 rebounds at the 50th annual Faith Seven high school all-star game in Shawnee prior to moving to Norman …A Texas Class 6A State selection as a senior when he averaged 25.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.7 steals while making 58.3 percent of his field goal attempts … Led the Bulldawgs to a 20-14 overall record and their first playoff win in decades … Was also named the District 12-6A MVP … As a junior averaged 26.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game while shooting .561 from the field … Was named the Texas 8-5A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior and was a second-team all-district pick as a sophomore.

Rashard was also named the Texas MVP in the Faith Seven All-Star Game following the end of his senior season in high school when he scored 37 points on 13-of-17 shooting, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range and 9-of-10 at the free throw line. He added a game-high 11 rebounds and three assists.

I don’t have a clue why he didn’t put his offensive skills on display at OU? He showed he could score off of the dribble drive early on, and that was pretty much what he was limited to throughout his career. Was that by design, or did he ignore what the coaches wanted him to do because he was more comfortable with driving the lane? Wish I knew the answer. I was frustrated and confused by those questions for four straight years!

RO wasn’t much a gym rat. Liked fashion and Girls.

That's cool....great to do those things when you're young!
