SHAWNEE — Fighting to crack the top 10 in Class 5A, No. 11 Southeast got a valuable win over eighth-ranked Coweta, 60-37, Thursday night in the first round of the Shawnee Invitational.

Dashawn McDowell, the Southeast senior point guard who has signed with SMU, scored 19 points, and junior Ron Walker added 19 as well, as the Spartans improved to 11-4 on the season.

Southeast used a 17-5 run in the second quarter to take control of the game, cruising to its sixth straight victory.

“Right now, we're not worried about the rankings,” McDowell said. “We're just worried about building chemistry. We're just working to build confidence so we can get this team to state.”

You didn't miss much. The ridiculous part was the idea that everyone should take notice of a 10-2 team ranked 16th in 4A. If every poster on this board started a thread like that about their favorite school, this board would be inundated with threads no one but the poster who started it would be interested in. I considered deleting the thread but decided to let it go.

The cleaned up part was for the language the OP used. He repeated the offense a few posts later and got a week's vacation for his trouble.

Thanks. I have to admit, threads like these are a guilty pleasure. I know they clog up the board and annoy people, but it's kind of funny to laugh at how inane they are. They should go but sometimes I just want to read it before it does.
