Oklahoma is going to be a load in the Big 12

great article. Sometimes it's hard for fans to step back and have an outside observer's perspective

My KU friends were remarking via texts about how tough OU is going to be next year last night.

I have enjoyed this season from the opening tip - mainly because I havent looked at W/L as any indicator. I picked other metrics to measure and they did great.

Literally no reason to include Darrion Strong-Moore in that list of players. I'll replace that name with Kristian Doolittle and agree that the article is spot on. Can't wait for next year!

I do believe we will see a mark improvement next year..How much? dunno

My guess is that they just watched yesterday's game. Only reason I can think of why they would add DSM.

I would say if the guys get in the gym and improve outside shooting like Buddy did then this team will be pretty good next year. You had to be excited watching the game yesterday knowing if no one leaves this entire team comes back plus a 5 star PG and two four star bigs

I agree with your KU friends. This team's win-loss record does not tell the whole story. Every loss except three, Wisconsin on the road and to #11 and #12 ranked Baylor and Florida at home have been close until the final minutes, with OU having a chance to win in every case. A break here or there, one less mental error or turnover, a shot that fell our way, was often the difference in adding a win to our record instead of another disappointing loss.

We're usually looking to next season about this time with a sense of dread, wondering how we'll make up for the points and rebounds we'll be losing to graduation. Not next year. Every player on this team who has been a factor in closing out the season will be back. We're also adding a solid recruiting class that includes a McDonald's All American five star point guard, a position that cost us dearly at times this season.

If you add those facts to the players we've got coming back, who will only get better, I think we have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about next year.

Good points Ada, and if you think about, next year is only eight months away! Factor in the overseas trip in late summer and it is even less than that. Going to be here quick.

Thanks, Ada and coolm (and others) for those positive thoughts. I'm excited about Saturday's season finale and looking forward to seeing what our Sooners can do in the Big 12 tournament.

Who knows, we may not be quite finished just yet.

And you're insane:D

"This season has been a success! I have my own metrics!"

I understand what you're saying and I'm glad you have enjoyed the season, but what metrics could you possibly say ou has been "great" in?

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory?

The only thing I would say they have been "good" at is not giving up considering how terrible of a season it has been.

really?

So you guys dont look at anything except the final score?

I think you enjoy other parts of the game as well but you have some machismo thing going where you believe that stupid "winning is everything" crap.

Lose your ego and enjoy the game.

Well most of us look at the game as a whole. And on the whole, we're losing.

I expected us to take a big step back from last year, but this season didn't even come close to meeting my expectations. For a good part of the season, this team wasn't even fun to watch. We played bad basketball, and it seemed like the same BS every game without them learning a thing from the 10 times they'd done it before then.

Yes, this season has shown that we have some talented young players who are only going to get better, and I expect us to be back dancing next year, but anybody that truly enjoyed watching this season is a masochist.

I see both sides of this argument.

Chief among the negatives: It's not easy to find the positives with seventeen losses staring you square in the face.

To be honest, this has not been a fun season for me. Still, I have managed to see the bright side:

***Being in every loss except three at the end shows we're not that far from
what could have been a successful season.

***Our freshmen and sophomores are good, a couple of them really good.

***Every point, rebound, blocked shot and steal being logged by the players in
our regular rotation will be back next year.

***Help is indeed on the way in the form of a Mickey D AA point guard.

I'm looking forward to next year. But I'm also anxious to see if this team is ready to make some noise in the Big 12 tournament. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they do just that!
