OT: Changes at OUInsider

I think the damage has already been done though.

I don't post on here (lurker) but would appreciate a new football forum.

I've read your football recruiting stuff elsewhere, so perhaps you can assist in that area with the football board about to be rolled out here?

My philosophy on free OU football boards is the more the merrier. :)

rumor is not that they are close to getting a free off topic and a free owen field.

They are going to call their free board Owen Field, but any topic can be discussed on that board.

There is a ton of po'd people over there. :facepalm

I really hope so....but they are already spinning it over there (Brian Bishop, etc) and have deleted all the threads that started this, including the one where they said most of the posters over there was worthless. Of course they are spinning it saying they taken out of context and never meant that.

oh course there is James Hale...

Scott 22 I don't understand what you are complaining about really. I mean do you really understand what is going on here. It doesn't matter any more how many people come to a website and that has never been a big deal for us or a difference maker. We don't base our existence on ads, so total number of people on the board don't matter and we do this because our paying subscribers don't like it.

We realize we can't please everybody, but if you really think this through and really think about this this is going to be better for all those that subscribe to the board.

The clowns at ouinsider have decided to keep their football board free to post, but for some reason are going to make their basketball boards pay to post. :facepalm

Yes it appears there will now be three free boards: Owen Field, O'Connell's and the Ticket Exchange. Owen Field will become a "general OU sports" board, I presume.

I do find it comical that some people feel they have the inherent right to post for free on a message board.

I certainly don't feel I have an "inherent right" to do anything for free on the internet. But do I feel their original plan would have been a severely poor business decision? Why yes, yes I do. Even though they have now backtracked and attempted to make it right, I am sure they have sufficiently pissed off enough of their potential customers that might have subscribed that their business could suffer for awhile. They may have even lost some existing customers. This whole debacle has really been an exercise in how not to conduct your business.

Wasn't referencing you in particular, but you are kidding yourself if you don't think some of those posters feel like they have been "wronged" with this move. With that said, I do agree OUI went about it the wrong way and it looks bad, even though I don't necessarily disagree with their movement to charge a fee.

Oh I absolutely agree with that. Some of the vitriol that has occurred over there the past couple of days has been cartoonishly over the top. I just felt it was stupid, not an affront to my civil liberties.

I have actually considered becoming a paid member over there in the past but I'm not sure I will consider it again in the future. The main reason for that is not anger, but fear of their incompetence.

I'm going to bomard their new Owen Field/General Sports board with women's basketball recruiting questions and Courtney Paris updates on her play in the Euroleague.

Can we please get ABD to post some Texas Tech/Nebraska/Colorado analysis over there? Would be solid gold.

Nice. Would love to see the reaction over there to an ABD post pimping Tech and Tuberville's football recruiting classes.

This is my OU BB board and that was my football board. I would love this board to start a FB side.

I do think it is funny and greedy to try to get people to pay to post. What would happen if facebook started charging? And that bullcrap Hale said about not depending on ads is lieing or stupidity. If they don't care about the ads, then why are their a bunch of ads slowing the board down all the time. I definitely won't pay to see their articles because it their writing is full of the obvious and the legion free posters usually know more about a recruit than Hale can learn from a phone call.

Add me to the list of people who would make a football board (separate from this, but by the same people) my home base for OU football.

I'm going to miss the baseball banter at OUI the most, though.

I would support a OU football fourm like the basketball fourm tell me what I need to do and I will help you out
