Read today that OU coaches have been to see him, although I don't know how recent that is. Thought you might be interested.

He's a top 100 (top 50 in new ESPN rankings) forward from a small school in southeast Missouri. Most think he doesn't leave the state and don't bother recruiting him, but a ton of schools have come to watch him (including Memphis, Georgetown, UCLA, kansas, and possibly even Duke and UNC... not sure on the last two, but positive on the others).

He hasn't ever played AAU and plays in the smallest class in Missouri, so his exposure has been limited, but he has played against some top 50 players in various showcase events and more than held his own.

Last spring he set a state record for rebounds in the state championship game (35, breaking a decades old record held by his father).

I also heard they are recruiting a 2011 PG out of Ponca City. Anybody have any additional recruiting info?

I was hoping they were gonna get in on him. The conventional thinking was if Mcelmore went to Mizzou then they wouldn't offer him. With Daniels to Kansas maybe we will reap the rewards of this stud.

Conventional thinking by who?

Missouri has a minimum of two scholarships (three if the NCAA will ever officially declare Mitchell ineligible).

McLemore's a 2 and Porter's a combo forward. They're in no way competing for a scholarship with Missouri. Both have had offers for quite some time.

For what it's worth, though, Porter's actually ranked higher in ESPN's new rankings. Guess McLemore hasn't impressed much at Oak Hill this year.

It'll be interesting to see if OU can get seriously involved. His recruitment has been very odd. With no AAU play and little contact with people outside that corner of the state, plus the intentional delay until the late signing period, it's next to impossible to get a read on him. A lot of people think he more or less knows what he wants to do and just is waiting until he's done with high school basketball. But I wouldn't be shocked if he hasn't even given it serious consideration. I think anyone could still get in and win him over with the right approach.

Mizzou originally only had one scholarship for this class but that changed when John Underwood left to be closer to home and Tony Mitchell didn't qualify. If Mitchell can get qualified the dream class would be Mitchell, McLemore, and Porter. At this point if Tony Mitchell can get cleared I don't think he would play till next season.

A lot to like here...

Doubtful. Ponca City is terrible this year. NOt any d1 recruits on that team

I can see why they like Porter.

I hafta say that was one of the more informative clip reels I have seen in some time. Usually it's just a mishmash of hype clips, but that one actually showed some of the skills you're looking for in the position.

His body isn't major D1 ready obviously, but whoever gets him will have something solid to work with.

him being able to dunk is among the last questions I'd have about him. as nimble and quickly as he went up with those putbacks I really don't question athleticism. He's likely got kids draped all over him and he hasn't been strong enough to go up dragging them with him.

We have more of a success rate with Oklahoma kids than out of state ones. I'd love to get Raney at the wing. He's about on par with Godbold, Davis, etc. He's more athletic than Godbold and maybe Davis.

This! I also think we will have more than three to give in the late period. No inside info, just a hunch.

Could it have been Putnam City (Dom Raney)?

It was Ponca City, I can't remember the kids name though. He's a smaller kid, like 5'8" or 5'9". They haven't offered, but I know they have been up there and talked to him and his coach.

Firstly, I would love to see Porter in a Sooner uniform, but aren't we getting a little overloaded at the Forward position? Beggars can't be choosers, but next year we'll have Goff, Osby, Fitz, CJ, Nick and Cam. I guess what I'm trying to say is do we go after this kid now or slow play until Jurrick and Cezar make a decision?

Heck yea you go after him...by the looks of that video he looks very athletic and active...also looks like a good shooter....

Him, along with osby and goff would give us the option to press press press with a big lineup....they would give us the option to run an extended zone and be able to intercept passes...

I agree with u here. But if we do only have 2 schollies next year do we pass up on Jurick or Cezar? If Hardricks schollies opens up then I say sign all 3.

Would love to have this guy to finish off a class of Jurick and Guerrero.

that would be an amazing class I think at this point....I have my doubts though, I dunno if we will get them...If we get two out of the three im happy...I think we need two of the three to help turn things around

Good question, I havent seen any video on Jurick at all...but I sure like what I saw in otter on that video...
