OU hosting Samuell Williamson this weekend

I love this kid! He’s a scorer deluxe from anywhere on the floor.

Him and Jaden McDaniels are the top 2 left. Williamson is a much better shot.

Sam still going to be tough. Visits KU labor day weekend.

OU has been in on both for a long time. Jaden was unranked when we offered.

What do you think the odds of landing Jaden are?

10%

Its small. Once the big dogs come, its hard to win. Relationships are huge. Crutch is an elite guy. I think he'll take over once LK steps down.

Setting myself up I know, but Williamson would have me doing a double backflip.
Come on Sam, help Harmon take it to the next level. Throw in Victor and Timme and people would have enough crow here to open up a sanctuary.

Interesting thought coach. Do you think Steve Henson would be in consideration?
I like Crutch and think he'd do a good job. He seems to like it here and knows the program's draws and limitations. I understand the debate about announcing a head coach in waiting but I think it would be more of a plus in OU's current situation. I guess the minus would be if OU could attract a big name guy and by placing a tag on a coach in waiting, you kinda take that chance off the table. I wonder what big names would be realistic? Billy Donnovan in two years:o Either way Joe C. has his finger on the pulse of the program more than anyone.

I'll get melted for this one and I don't think it's probable but I would be 100% on board just for my inner childhood fandom if Kellen Sampson, Quannas White, Hollis Price and Eduardo Najera came back. Okay, I got that out of my system, now commence the total obliteration of that thought.

Crutch is probably the best we can do. This program has real obstacles that they’ve largely been unable to overcome for whatever reason. Obstacles and limitations that “basketball” schools don’t have to deal with. Plus, we don’t have wealthy donors that consistently step up for the basketball program. That, and the fans are very fickle. 85,000 ou fans show up to every football event and we can’t even get 10,000 to show up for every basketball game.

OU has a great tradition of coaches. Take away Capel, and our last three coaches (Tubbs, Kelvin, and Kruger) are all outstanding, and Capel was a guy who was a hot commodity at the time we hired him. To suggest that a top 20 all time program would have trouble finding plenty of quality candidates is silly. There aren't many true "basketball" schools out there, so it's not like we would be in line behind dozens of schools in the pecking order. Whenever Lon retires, Joe C will have a lot of good coaches interested in the job.

I don’t think that’s the case at all. We went and hired LK after th previous disaster.
Joe C will always do due diligence. Crutch may be the guy but say in 2 years we are funding the $100 mil upgrade. It’s even a better job than it is. Ow.

I think it’s a top 25 job in the country

1. The basketball team plays twice as many home games as the football team.
2. The basketball season begins (with generally lesser games) when football season is at its peak of interest.
3. Oklahoma is, has been and always will be a football state.
4. The list of football schools that pack the house for basketball is exceedingly short. Heck, the list of schools, period, that pack the house regularly for basketball is short.

So the notion that it's OU that has this "problem" and not 95 percent of D1 schools is misguided. It's one that our fans are hesitant to let go of, but it's time they did.

Cameron Indoor Stadium only holds 9300, so technically they don't get 10000 fans.

Texas Tech is really becoming a thorn in our side in basketball recruiting. Them being good has been a bigger part of our recruiting struggles over the last couple of years than most probably realize.

They've only been good one season. They were 18-14 the season before that and missed out on postseason play altogether.

I only see them as a thorn in our side if they're consistently signing players we want. Making the same top fives that we do doesn't mean much unless they close the deal more often than we do.

I do think Beard will recruit better than what Tech has done in the past but you are right....they have to start closing on the same kids OU wants to be a real thorn in OU's side.
