Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

How did Memphis score 41 points on 36% shooting? Is the 30 second shot clock making possessions that much quicker?

Offensive rebounding, and 17 free throws to our 6. I'll get mocked by those those who enjoy that sort of thing, but the officials played a key role in the first half.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

We really miss Thomas. He would battle for rebounds and could score. I just don't see any of that with Lattin and McNeace?? They have one rebound each the first half.

You probably don't remember the first few games of Thomas last year.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Can someone tell me why CJ Cole was in the game in the first half?

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

How's the half-court offense and defense doing thus far? that seems to be the key to this team going forward.

No mocking here, it's spot on. They were in the double bonus before we were even in regular bonus. It wasn't like we were playing some ultra-aggressive defense. They were simply calling us for fouls that they didn't call on Memphis.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Lon needs to go back to the basics at the next practice session. Everyone on the team forgot how to block out on the boards. I didn't expect to blow Memphis out on their home court. But, OU is allowing them to stay in the game by giving up second and third chance points, and by allowing them to penetrate inside on uncontested drives down the lane.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

My 1st half synopsis:

-Buddy is good. Buddy is really really good. When he makes a shot, the net doesn't move.
-Everyone's been saying it, but we are so much deeper. I think we played 10 guys that half.
-We gave up entirely too many offensive rebounds. That's the most infuriating thing to me. I know that Memphis was outrebounded by Southern Miss or whoever they played in their first game, so I'm sure it's a heavy emphasis for them. They are crashing the offensive glass SO hard, and we are not prepared. I don't know if it's because we really miss Thomas and/or need Manyang. We have a lot of big bodies as it is. Put your body on someone and go grab a board. Spangler is tentative.
-We DO miss Thomas offensively. I really like McNease and how active he is, but he doesn't really have a back-to-the-basket game yet.
-James looks great! Kinda reminds me of freshman year Buddy.
-The officiating was pretty terrible. Memphis was playing an extremely physical game, and at one point we had out-fouled them 8-3. Buddy's arm didn't just start bleeding by itself.
-The point guard change. I don't know what to think. There were 2 different possessions where Isaiah brought the ball down, saw his shot, took it, and drained it. I can see the potential. But other than that, it's hard for me to understand it right now. I love Isaiah and think he's one of the best pure shooters and on-ball defenders in the league. But he is pretty atrocious at shooting FTs and isn't always under control.

2nd half starting now.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Defense is fine. Just need to rebound better.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Don't like out first 2 3 attempts. Out of rhythm. Buddy corrected that though.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Lattin just doesn't look good today.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

We will simply refuse to block out all year much like last year.. so many games determined by rebounds

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Spangler's effort on the offensive glass is MUCH better so far this half. Still need to block out defensively though.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Spangler got fouled on that drive, but we're getting no help at all. If Lon's complaining, you know something is up.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Mcneace with a really good looking shot in the paint. Rims out

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Better effort from Spangler so far. Nice drive by Woodard.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

50-47 at under 16. Memphis inbounding on their baseline.

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

That "horse" shot by hield was hilarious

Re: >>>>>>OU-Memphis Gameday Thread<<<<<<

Much better effort so far this half.

Helped a lot by getting the 4th on D Lawson.
